Low income is a huge boost. Oldest child? Did your parents attend college?
Your background will play in your favor. From what I've been seeing this year, you should be confident in everyone of those.

ok well i usually dont like talking about it but here is what happened, kinda long. i came to the US with my mom and sister without knowing any english (dad had a job in korea). when i was in third or fourth grade, my mom simply just left me for reasons unknown. my aunt and uncle adopted me, really caring and loving of them to do so because they make low income, and already had three children of their own and by having me, would legally have 4. they understood that if they adopted me, they would economically struggle more because they had to support 1 extra family member. my aunt and uncle are the stereotypical koreans: they work at a dry cleaners and are not that fluent in english. supposedly my "mom" got a boyfriend and no one knows what happened to my dad or no one is telling me.

edit: no i am not the oldest child. i have 2 older cousins, both of whom are in college and 1 younger cousin who attends the same high school as i do. parents never attended college.

Are you an ELC student? With a 4.3 UC GPA, you should be...

The only reason I had said "slight reach" for Berkeley is that your ECs are somewhat weak. However, if you write excellent essays, you should have a good shot.

I can't say whether you'd get Regents--I don't think anyone can. Just from what I've seen, it's probably the biggest crapshoot in UC admissions. I'd say Regents at Berkeley is more of a crapshoot than getting into HYPS. (Only ~1000 chosen to compete out of ~50,000 applicants. Sometimes the nominations seem very random!)

our school today just sent our transcripts of top 10 percent in our class to UCs. the UCs say they accept only top 4 percent and i am top 5 percent so i dont think i am going to be ELC.
