Essays
I have one really good common app essay that is really unique and well-writen but not personal enough. And I also have another that is really personal but a little less well-writen. My EC essay is about being a dorm prefect, which is really unique. My why this college essays are really good as well.

Recs
One from my advisor at school who is also my college advisor, should be pretty personal
One from my old advisor who will write about how I accomplished all my goals he ever set out for me – AMAZING rec
Two other recs from math and English teachers junior year, pretty good

PLAN:
Wesleyan EDII in january

Tulane EA (both parents went there, grandparents went there, aunt went there, getting a rec from a very influencial person working at Tulane)

Contingency Plan: BU, BC, NYU , Bates, Colby, Conn college, Trinity, Dickinson, F&M

Who wants to chance me?

Why do you have two different screen names? I think that is a violation of CC policy, and it is really rather annoying. Anyway, chancing posts are pretty silly. What difference will anything we say make? It won’t get you in or keep you out. You have a list of alternative schools except that BC is harder to get into than Tulane, and NYU about as hard, maybe a bit harder. I think Bates and Colby are tough too. The rest are possible.

Well I feel like my legacy at Tulane will help me a lot. and my recomendations for tulane specifically. but don’t u think f&m and dickinson are safeties? and isnt BU probably a possible?

I agree with fallenchemist regarding “chances.” The comments won’t really mean much and the advice that generally follows is of little value. It seems that almost every college is experiencing a substantial growth in applications. My S and I visited Dickinson this past weekend and were told that applications were up again this year by approximately 50% relative to the same time last year! Personally, I believe this is more a function of perspective students applying to more schools than such a dramatic rise in the number of kids wanting to go on to college. That is just my opinion. Having said that, I don’t know if I would be comfortable considering Dickinson and Franklin & Marshall as safties with your scores. But, as we all know, scores are just one piece of the puzzle. Best of luck to you.
