Expanding upon what Hunt said, PioneerJones, I would take some of what jkflintown said to heart. Although most of us understood your irony at the quadriplegic/cancer survivor/ passionate teacher affairs/ essays better than ours, some people might consider that kind of jesting to be either crude, offensive, or off-putting.

Not to be racist or anything, but stats like this as a Hispanic gives you an extremely high chance of getting into any of the top Ivy schools solely on ethnicity. Last year at my school, a hispanic girl got into Cornell with fairly average stats (~2000 SAT, 4.0 GPA W, 3.6 UW, a few APs). She was, however, president of the Future Business Leaders of America and helped the team win its 19th sectional in a row. That may have influenced her acceptance.

I am not naive enough to believe this type of humor would be appropriate in something as important as an essay. I am aware of my audience, although I took for granted that Chancers would have a more flexible sense of humor.

As I mentioned to Hunt, I would not duplicate these self-aggrandizing quips (or anything betraying a similar mentality) in any forum of consequence. I would think the members here would be wise enough to see through my fabricated superiority complex, rather than take offense. I will concede, however, that my title, which was intended to be no more than a lighthearted marketing ploy, was insensitive. For that, I apologize.

I am aware that my ethnicity puts me in an advantageous position. While this comforts me, I will not be so naive to think I have a sure shot at any of these schools. That girl you mentioned had an impressive academic extracurricular under her belt; something I cannot boast.

While I generally dislike responding to chance threads for people like you (i.e. super high stats and good other things; therefore, it’s all likely but random), your thread made me smile, so I had to. I don’t know you, but from your cutesy remarks, I already hope you get in over the rest of the people who make threads identical to yours in substance. And hopefully, that is what will show through in your essays and interviews. Good luck!

I’m fairly confident that you’ll get into most, if not all, of your schools.

I like you Thank you for not taking my lighthearted remarks the wrong way. I’m rather “laid back”, for lack of a better description, in comparison to my fellow Ivy-hopefuls.
