Essays: I have many ideas for essays, but 2 come in mind. I can elaborate on this extensively.

1) Talk about how I helped out my father at his work (Janitor) from 6th-11th grade summer, because he had back problems; no pay

2) The idea of how my father wanted to go to school, but couldn't afford it because his parents wouldn't be able to afford food. He encouraged me to do well in school and live and dream/life he didn't.

Schools:
Harvard
Dartmouth
Stanford
UCLA
UCAL
UCSD
Carniegie Melon
Lehigh
Pitt
PSU

bumppppppppppppppppppppppppp

Pitt and PSU are obviously going to be your safe schools.

Harvard/Dartmouth/Stanford: those are gunna be your reaches! Yikes.

The rest seems like pretty good fits/average chance.

Thank you! Any advice on how to improve my chances?

I think that the obvious ways to improve your chances are getting in are improving your grades senior year and trying to bump up your SATs a little bit although your score is really good. What state are you from because that will affect your chances of getting into UC schools.

Chance me back!!

I really hope he is from PA or he is wasting his time applying to Penn State and Pitt. Good schools, dont get me wrong… but expensive as hell and they dont help out of state students, let alone instate.

thansk wmurphy, and highschoolgirl. yes i am from PA that’s why PSU and Pitt are my safetys.

Good! I suggest applying to Pitt and PSU as soon as the application comes out (September) so you get an early reply. That way you will already have the safeties under your bet. Worst case scenario you go to one of the best state schools! (PSU that is).

Chance me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1165823-chances-george-washington-university-ed.html

Yeah, I think i have like a 99% chance to get into PSU, but if you apply early to them, do you have to go to their school, and recind your apps?

And alrighty i will!

nah, because it isn’t applying ED or even EA. They have rolling admissions so if you get accepted, your accepted. No recinding other apps, no forced admission etc.

It’s just since they have rolling admissions you can apply early and be in that first wave of applicants (the wave that gets most accepted) giving you a basically 100% chance.

Thanks a lot on the advice man, really appreciate it.

Bumping… Please give insight.

While your scores and grades might not be balanced even with your URM status, your profile seems super interesting to me, especially the Hispanic citizenship tutoring. You should be fine at your safeties, decent at the UC’s, and you’ll have a small stake at Harvard and such as long as your essays are stellar

Thank you very much, it really means a lot. I forgot to specify that the Hispanic Translator EC was more of a lawyer based atmosphere. I would sit down with two layers as clients came in, in order to seek asylum, getting a family relative into the States, stuff like that. It was an actually eye opener for me particullay one case, and I was considering of using it as an essay topic.

:/ sorry, but bumppp
