Chance a really anxious junior w/ a LOW SAT?

I am a junior (rising Senior) and live in NC (Durham County).

ECs:
I have a working student under the UNC-Chapel Hill Equestrian team coach/PE Teacher for the past 5 years.

I have had 2 jobs since I was 15.

I was on my Church's youth Council for 4 years, VP for 1 year, I expect to president senior year.

I've been teaching beginner riding at a summer camp for the past 3 years.

I will be volunteering with a (large-animal) vet this summer.

I've bought, cared for and trained my horse (ex-racehorse) from the ground up with no financial help from my parents. I am very committed to her and that is where the majority of my time is spent out side of school.

I am taking classes at a local community college and I've gotten all A's so far (Biology, Chemistry, intro Sociology, intro Business).

My SAT scores are not great (1790, CR:670, M:520 WR:590 E:8) but have been getting tutoring and feel like I've improved and took the May Sat (will get my scores back THURSDAY! eek!). My biggest difficulty is math, I am fine with solving equations but taking the word problems and making them equations is difficult for me, I always want to make it more complicated then needed. I LOVE Critical reading and my writing is so so.

What score is not high enough that I should take the SAT for a fourth time?

I also will be taking the ACT soon and I think I will do better on it than the SAT. I also will be taking SAT IIs - Lit and Bio, I expect to do well.

My GPA is currently about a 3.7 unweighted but I am trying to bring it up before the end of the year.

Basically no APs are available to me, the ones I'm taking will be taken online.

Recommendation letters will be from my Trainer (UNC PE teacher/coach), my Sociology/Psychology teacher (from the CC), combined letter from the UNC Equestrian Team, all I expect to be excellent.

I will NOT need financial aid, my mom got her graduates degree and my grandfather got his graduates and pharmaceutical degree at UNC.

My goal is to eventually get into UNC's or Campbell's Pharmacy school.

Chance me for: UNC-CH, NC State, VA Tech, Appalachian, UNC Charlotte, Campbell University.

Thanks to anyone willing to chance me or give me any advice!

Don’t repost this.

I can’t specifically comment on any of those schools but as a “pharm parent” to be, I would advise you to check on the transferability of your senior dual enrollment sciences. Many pharmacy schools will only accept calculus based physics as a pre-req, for example. Also, those that require anatomy and microbio may only accept it from a 4 year college. Just a heads up before you do alot of work for no real credit!

Other than that, it’s never too early to get a little pharmacy experience if that’s your ultimate goal. Check with your HS for shadowing opportunities for this summer or next year. That’s the type of relevant EC that will help you above all others in the world of PharmD admissions. (Now if you wanted to go to vet school, you’d be all set!) Good luck!

Thanks for your input! I intend to still take those classes when I get into college, I am mainly just taking them for HS credit plus I figured the more I learn the better I’ll understand it.

I’ll look into jobs/volunteer opportunities at my local pharmacies, that is a very good idea. Now I just have to find time to fit it in. : )

You need to commit more time and effort to raise your SAT scores. You will need LORs from a math and/science teacher if you declare a science major leading up to you applying to pharm school. Why are you loading on so many classes? Bunches of classes are not going to divert attention away from your low SAT scores. Consider AP Chem instead.
