As an engineering applicant, try to bring that SAT score up as much as possible. Write good essays (explaining why you will be a good engineer, why you would be well placed at UVA, etc.). You should have a fair shot as an out of state applicant; your stats aren’t bad at all, though it’s unfortunate your school offers no AP’s. The good news is that you seem to have taken the most rigorous course load available to you.

I was in your position and was accepted OOS as an engineering undergraduate. My SAT was 2190 (700 M, 690 CR, 800 W), and my essays, I feel, were very good–and quite possibly what made me as an applicant stand out more. I took (am taking) AP Physics B and Calculus BC as a senior as well (in total I took 6 AP’s), and also took the highest math course load I could at my school. My EC’s were pretty well rounded as well.

All in all, I think you have a good shot. Hopefully my background gives you a bit more info coming from an OOS engineering applicant who was recently accepted (and will attend).

Thanks alot for all of the info and advice Ryan

Any other opinions?

I would say that improving your SAT scores is essential.
