HOOKS:

I am of Hispanic descent.

I will not be applying for financial aid (?).

I think you have a great/near excellent chance of getting in! although your gpa is slightly lower than most of the students’ (average is 3.8), your SAT score falls in at about the 50th percentile. Plus, you are hispanic, which will help alot. good luck!

Consider applying Early Action 1.

You’ll be showing the school that you have a high level of interest and you will get a response back in December.

Also, for whatever reason, the acceptance rate is much higher for EA applicants.

Hey, reach out to Bonnie Hall. She helps coordinate the diversity initiatives for admissions. She’s really cool. Give her a phone call, if you can reach her (it’s a busy time in the fall) tell her your name and some bio, and ask about what kind of diversity programs WPI offers, as well as, other organizations you might be interested in. It’ll be fantastic if you actually visit the school and see her in person - and talk with students from NSBE or SHPE.

Good luck. Your stats are competitive (meaning in the range of WPI admits, but definitely not the best), even if you’re weren’t hispanic. I’ve known white male non-athletes with no special super powers, get into WPI with stats like yours (of course, everyone said they wouldn’t get in, but go figure). Don’t sell yourself short, but know you’re not entitled to anything. And, if you need financial aid, apply for it.

Thanks for the info, I have visited campus in the winter, so hopefully they have that on record.
