Chance me for

MIT
Columbia
Oxford -philosophy major
NYU-safety

Some others, but those are the main ones.

bump

10char

привет! :D

Your stats are definitely in range for those schools; I don’t think your AP scores will prevent anything, either. The only thing I’m worried about is the EC’s – can you get a leadership position on at least one of them? Also, what are you interested in? Looking from your EC’s, I can’t figure out what you’re actually passionate about. :stuck_out_tongue:

MIT - High Reach
Columbia - Middle Reach
Oxford - Don’t exactly know the rates for internationals, but prob a middle/low reach.
NYU - safe

My advice would be write a stunning, brilliant essay. Your stats are all there – you just need something to distinguish you from the pack.

PPE (Philosophy, Politics & Economics) is one of the most popular degree courses at Oxford and very competitive. Almost all applicants will have top level statistics but in 2008 the acceptance rate for PPE was 19.5%. The acceptance rate for overseas applicants across all undergraduate courses was 12.0% compared to 23.7% overall. 25 candidates were given conditional offers on the basis of APs or SATs. So all in all it looks a rather high reach to me.

Oxford doesn’t offer philosophy alone but apart from PPE it can also be taken as part of Mathematics & Philosophy, Philosophy & Modern Languages, Philosophy & Theology, Physics & Philosophy, and Psychology, Philosophy & Physiology. The acceptance rates for these will vary.
