High School: 134th in United States (about 10% of us get into Ivy Leagues/equivalent or better)
Major: Neuroscience/biology
GPA (lower numbers explained later, but they still are here): 3.4 UW, 4.03 W, slight downward trend, but leap in Senior year, about 12% rank, but school does not rank. By the end of second semester, I will likely move up a percentage or two.
SATs: 2070 superscored (680 CR, 720 M, 670 W), 2020 (670 CR, 720 M, 630 writing) for highest single taking, taking once more in December.

<p>Letters: GC- amazing, me and her share a connection with our interests, she always talks about how much I have matured and think in a logical manner; Teachers- 1 awesome, 1 okay (my two favorite teachers chose randomly since so many students asked, of course I did not get chosen.)
Essay: Good (unique, to me at least, it has to do with my philosophy about life, and my central focus of helping the elderly and it somehow relates to my major, not going to say it is one of the best essays ever written, but I still feel it is unique), supplements are probably average for their standards.
Hook: Umm...well, I am Mexican? I'm only partially, but the culture is prevalent in my life, and URMs for the win?
Issue: My parents got a divorce which affected my Sophomore and Junior gpa a lot, which devastated me for a while. My guidance counselor is explaining in her letter how the divorce hit me really hard economically/socially at first, but ultimately led to my more mature and logical approach to life (which it really did).</p>

<p>Okay, I apologize for the minor error, but yes, I am 1/2 Mexican, although you wouldn't know it by looking at me :p (my dad's parents are directly from Mexico). Anyway, anymore chances are greatly appreciated, and I will chance back.</p>

<p>I think my high school is ranked above 134 and we don't send 10% of our students to Ivy leagues... anyways, you have good chances.</p>

<p>Well, we had 408 kids in last year's class, 23 got into Ivies, 18 got into equivalent Ivies (Stanford, MIT, Cal. Tech, Washington-SL, NW, Duke, etc), so yeah, it is close to 10% and for every kid that gets into an Ivy at our school, there are five others that go to community college, so it's a large disparity.</p>

Your test scores are slightly on the low end of good and low GPA, but your course rigor and extracurriculars are very good. You're hispanic, which is a plus, and a family situation will offer some sympathy from the applicants. Overall...above average applicant.</p>

<p>I'd say you'd get into BC, Villanova, Colgate, and College of the Holy Cross. Everything else is somewhat ify, although you've got a good shot Carnegie Mellon and UVA. Not really sure tho, cuz I'm not sure how colleges factor in board scores.</p>
