Chance a Soon to be Senior

OK though i messed up BIG time my frosh/soph years of high school, I got everything together in my junior year. I am an IB student, and I scored a 27 on my ACT, I have yet to take the SAT. I am on the soccer team, debate team, mock trial, and I have done a lot of volunteer work (I have over 200 service hours), I completed an internship at an Art Center in the southern Beverly Hills area of Chicago, and I performed in two plays there.

Junior Classes/Grades

IB English: A (7)
IB European History: A (7)
IB Spanish IV: A (6)
IB Maths Studies: C (3)
IB Biology: B (5)
IB Psychology: A (7)
IB Theory of Knowledge: A (7)

Is University of Michigan a match for me? I want to be a lawyer, and I think going here would be a good precursor for when i go to Yale Law.

Are the () the predicted IB scores? Anyways you should really bring up that C. At least to a B. And try and get higher ACT/SAT score.

You have a 3.4 GPA (Michigan will not consider your TOK and Psychology grades) and a 27 on the ACT. The average admitted students has a 3.9 GPA and a 30 on the ACT. Michigan would be a big reach at this stage. Your C in Math will hurt you.

yes, the () are the predicted IB scores lol, im very ahhh optimistic. I agree about the Math. I figure I still have, what, more semester to push my unweighted up?

Actually, they do consider Theory of Knowledge (philosophy) as a core class…the UMich catagorization is History/Social Science.

I asked during a campus tour about the recalculated GPA and I was also told that Psych would be considered part of the GPA even as a general class. So I wouldn’t see why it wouldn’t count as an IB.

Yale law, those are high aspirations son, good luck though!
