Because you need financial aid, as an international student, it will be difficult to know how the universities will fund students. Your EC’s are all over the place and it would be hard for adcoms to believe that you had time for all of your studies and time for all of those hours of EC’s. It’s not quantity they want to see, but quality.
Covid has hit the universities tough, where it counts-the money.

Funding, for US students, comes from the parents- and most parents can’t afford expensive schools. If you can’t fully fund your education for all four years, then your chances will be slim.

Agree with Aunt Bea. You probably aren’t going to like my assessment.

You need money. That’s a negative.

A 1000 word recommendation will probably raise eyebrows.

Your ECs might be totally legitimate, but from what you’ve written here, I think some AO’s will, again, raise their eyebrows because there are only so many hours in the day. Maybe your 1000 word recommendation explains how you manage to do so much.

Thanks for advice on ECs. As for financial aid its a no brainer that any applicant applying from international background will face the financial barrier and a competitive pool. I wanted a chance on how do my activities portray my competitiveness. Also, my activities fit perfectly for the three majors I have chosen so they are not that random.

Yeah I probably should have cleared it out. In Pakistan maximum students that are applying to US are in private schools with max number of student per counsellor is around 50 even out of that 5 to 10 apply so counsellors write 1000 word essays for school’s best candidates. I know 10 names that are at the top of my head that went to top unis with 1000+ words rec letter and hundreds who did not have 1000 words rec and were not accepted to top 20 schools. Money is a no brainer I know that that is why I wanna know my competitiveness. Plz rate my competitiveness based on ECs. Also Yale is need blind.

I don’t think your app will be rejected immediately. IMO, your chances are not better than the average applicant, and maybe slightly worse because you’re an international needing FA.

Beyond that, this year is well and truly expected to be unpredictable. As ever, institutional needs will set the tone. Do they need an international who needs FA? Do they need a Yale global scholar who writes poetry and founded an Anime club? We have no way of knowing. Best of luck and hopefully you applied to other schools that are a little easier to get into.

Don’t ask to be chanced if you don’t want to hear the answers. You asked.

FYI: I’ve had three of my children go through this process and go to selective schools, graduate, and go on to grad/professional schools and one is in a med school program. Husband is a Stanford grad and used to interview candidates. I’ve had experience going through this process with former students, as well as, personal relationships with two adcoms.
So, take my experience with a grain of salt.
Three majors? In four years? You obviously are very unfamiliar with how the US university majors and graduation requirements work in a four year program.
Also, need blind doesn’t mean that Yale will fully fund you. It means that when your application is reviewed, they do not consider your ability, to pay for your education, as a factor, when deciding admission status.

Also, consider what you plan to do with your degrees. You can’t stay in the US unless you are sponsored. The schools can educate you, but employment is something completely different. Immigration rules have become very strict. Employers must employ US citizens first, before they can consider even sponsoring a noncitizen, which is expensive and time consuming. Most employers have this issue listed on their websites. Maybe @TomSrOfBoston should comment.

So sorry if I would have offended you in any way. Loved your last part of advice and yeah the part of getting a sponsor will definitely be difficult.
As for chance me is concerned you had chanced me earlier on before EA/ED round and I liked you advice so wanted to compare my competitiveness from then to now.
Also the three majors I mentioned. I didn’t mean that I would be pursuing all three, I would be pursuing one out of those but in my apps, for all three unis, I will mention them.

Thank you so much I am optimistic but yeah I know my odds are really low. Hoping for the best.
