I'm a freshman at College of the Atlantic. Its an extremely small alternative liberal arts college in Maine, with a student body of 280. They are known for having the second highest percentage of international students in the country, and an even higher percentage of hippies. Their average sat is 1210 and their average gpa is 3.57. I am transferring because there aren?t enough courses related to my interests here. I am applying to two schools: Eugene Lang and Trinity (2 very different schools that I like for very different reasons). I am pretty sure that I will get into Eugene Lang, but I am very worried about Trinity.
I have a 3.62 college gpa, and have taken 2 advanced courses, getting A's in both. I also recently received a grant from NASA, which I am using to conduct research on light pollution this term. One potential problem is that there are no extracurricular opportunities here, so all I have on my resume is NASA, and 3.62, along with the fact that this summer I am doing 2 internships with the city of Hartford (where Trinity is located).
Furthermore, my high-school stats were mediocre. I had an overall gpa of 3.2, and my senior year was spent at an alternative high-school. The benefit of doing this may be that I took independent studies in obscure subjects, like Human Ecology. But it means I didn't have any AP's (though, I did go to an IB school my junior year). My ACT score is 28, with a perfect writing score. I noticed that Trinity has one of the lowest transfer acceptance rates in the country, at about 10%. I have no idea what these transfer students look like on paper, however, and I also think that Trinity's decision to take themselves off the common application may reduce their amount of applicants this year. With all this in mind...What do you guys think my chances are?
