Chance a UK male

I am an international student from an island in the UK. I am full caucasian (not sure whether this matters at all or not). I am applying to study business for fall 2011 at:

SUNY Binghamton
SUNY Plattsburgh
Rutgers New Brunswick or Newark
Penn state University park or Altoona (preferably the former)
UNC Wilmington

My SAT wasn't great 1110/1600 or 1670/2400. Math 540 Reading 570 Writing 560 Essay 8. It is a slight improvement on my last SAT score of 1600, but not as much as i was expecting.

My GCSE results were 3 A's, 4 B's and 5 C's (2 of the C's were done 2 years early). Not actually sure if these will be taken into account or not. My AS level results were not quite as i expected, i got B C D E but some re-takes should sort that out and i should end up with full A-levels of ABC/ACC. The A will be in business, not sure if that will help at all.

I go to the best school on my island, it is private with about 120 students in my year group. My school does not do GPA or class rank. I have got fairly solid recommendations and my essays are alright.

Every friday afternoon i help out at a charity shop for an hour. I have some work experience at 2 local law firms, one was for 3 weeks and i was a junior law assistant and i got to go to court to see a massive trial which was cool. The other was monday afternoons for about 4 hours over 6 weeks, in which i got to see all the different areas of a law firm, which was very interesting. I currently work at a large retailer as a sales assistant and have done for over a year now. I did a competition called Young Enterprise last year where we were put into teams and then had to either create a product or event. I was the IT director and along with my deputy performed all the IT related tasks ranging from creating posters and doing spreadsheets.

In terms of EC's i have:
Soccer all my life in and out of school
I dabble in various sports
Played cricket in my freshman year
Same for tabble tennis and athletics

I have gained house colours at every level during my school career. These are given out to students who perform the most in house activities, only about 5 out of about 25 people in each house year group get them. I also have a level 1 soccer coaching award, so i can coach soccer to kids.

Financial aid is not required.

Thank you.

They ones I can chance:
SUNY Binghamton-probably around 30-40%, Binghamton is the top SUNY besides Geneseo (arguably).
Plattsburgh- You’re probably in.
SUNY-wise, maybe look at Potsdam?
Penn State University Park-40-50%

Being international will probably help you, however.

I’m not familiar enough with the others, sorry!

ok, thanks

check out bentley, good business school

I am sure you could spin being from Jersey into being some kind of URM (under-represented minority) LOL! In the US no-one will have heard of it. Or you could apply to schools in New Jersey and claim “old” Jersey counts as in-state?

cheers, but i dont think i can afford it, and i doubt they will be willing to give me any aid. haha yeah only like 2 people a year apply to the US, and it is practically un-heard of. lol somehow i think they might figure that one out.

anyone else?

So regarding the two Cs for GCSE- tell them you took it two years early. they will take that into consideration. But you should improve your A levels- so when you apply, state clearly that you are retaking them and say you will send the scores as soon as they come out (march right?)

In your app you should put emphasis on your teaching football. that’s leadership.
I’d say you need a super super essay and you would have a good chance.
