Chance a very lopsided gal

I remember laughing at “chance me!” threads last year. Ah, for those innocent days . . .

GPA: 3.5, maybe 3.7-ish weighted?

Courseload: I’ll graduate with 9 APs (and so far have three 5s and one 4). Hardest humanities/language courses, but math/science is . . . not so hot. I won’t have taken Calc or physics in high school (but I’m clearly not a STEM major, so I don’t know how much that matters). I got a C in a math class a couple years ago, etc.

SAT I: 2260. 790 CR, 790 W, 680 M. I took the old test just in time.

SAT II: 800 US History, 730 Lit.

Other stuff: National awards for creative writing, published in some literary magazines, work’s appeared on some websites, other related writing stuff. Good community service. Essays comings along nicely, if I do say so myself. No hooks.

People really like me (not for my humble nature, I guess) so I think I’ll have good recommendations.

Schools: Oberlin, Brandeis, Wesleyan, Vassar, Kenyon, Amherst, Macaulay Hunter, Yale (HAH!). I realize this list looks very top-heavy, but I also have safeties I’d be happy to attend.

Basically, I’m a very lopsided candidate. Whaddya think?

You have an interesting profile that I’m sure someone will really love. You have a decent set of schools which I would consider to be reaches for most of them. Which ones are your safeties?

Why not your state flagship as a safety?

Thanks! I’m from NY, so technically we don’t have a state flagship, but I’m applying to Binghamton and some others. I guess it’s really a lottery at this point . . . I’ll just try to cast my net wide and see what happens.
