Well, I have a rather bad GPA (2.7-2.8 I forgot which), my ACT is 28 and I'm hoping to get it above a 30.

My EC's/awards Include:
3 years International club
2 years Art club
2nd place for best drama in the literary festival

I'm pretty good at writing essays, I know I'm getting great recs from my teachers. I'm an Asian female, (if that means anything) and I'm planning on getting a major in English.

Well, my counsler says that he isn't too confident on my choices when he looked at my GPA:

Loyola Universtiy Chicago

Depaul University

Illinois Wesleyan

Augustana College

...and that I'll most likely end up with four rejection letters.

So I'm also applying to Eastern Illinois and Western Illinios, (even though I don't really want to go to those two).

But is there really no hope for the first four colleges? I know Augustana and Wesleyan are a reach but Loyola and Depaul too?

Augustana's middle 50% on ACT is 23-28, so if you beat 28 you're in top 25% of students enrolling, right? Augustana accpts 75% of applicants. Illinois Wesleyan's middle 50% os 26-30 so that would seem tougher. Wesleyan accepts 52%. Loyola is 23-28 and accepts 77%--seems similar to Augie. Depaul's middle 50% is 21-26 so even at a 28 you'd appear to have no problem. I'm not a college admissions officer, but I'd bet some of these schools would welcome you with open arms. Get the ACT to a 30 and you couldprobably sail in. You should check their sites and see how important your sub-optimal GPA would be.

Augustana in particular really likes visitors (and their application is free for people who have visited)-- if you can visit there, that might raise your chances with them a little bit. (I'm assuming you meant the IL Augustana-- I don't know anything about the one in SD)

Augustana and IWU also both have rolling admissions, which I think you might want to take advantage of (even if you tell them that you're taking the ACT again, in case they want to wait for another score). Note that although the Common App website says that Augustana doesn't have a supplement, they do have a very short one on their website. If people just submit the Common App, the school just lets them know about the supplement.
