HOOKS:

I am of Hispanic descent.

I will not be applying for financial aid.

My unprofessional guess is that your chances would be like 60%. Take that with a grain of salt. Let us know how it goes!

I assume there will be a decisions thread come November. I will definitely post back there.

you’ll be deferred to rd

No chance of EA acceptance?

well, that’s my guess, given your profile. hispanic status might help a bit. but they will see no urgency in admitting you early. they don’t need recommendation letters now, do they? hope they will prove me wrong. you will find out soon enough.

I attended an information session and stated that they would throw out recommendations.

I’m also hoping being able to pay full OOS tuition will be a plus, especially with the recent economic downturn.

SAT’s within range, though a bit low within the middle 50%. Weight your GPA with Tech’s system (+.5 for AP or college courses) to see how competitive that is though.

I think URM will help you out, and ECs look pretty good. I like that you had committed and long-term involvement in a few main activities.

What do you mean by APCS and AP Econ next year (next semester?)

@got2surf: My school uses same GPA standards as Tech. I copied this post from a chance me thread last year. I am taking those courses this year.

Let’s just say that you won’t get in early with those SAT scores or grades. You’ve got a good chance to eventually get in, either RD, through the wait list, or through a summer offer, but Tech is still a slight reach.

When is the RD/Waitlist notification?
