Chance an Asian

Hello people!
I'm a first generation Chinese immigrant to the U.S.A.
I immigrated here three years ago, and yes, i still have some minor English problems. I'm fluent at mandarin chinese and understand all mandarin related dialect, that is, dialects of south and central china. I'm lucky that the INS just gave me citizenship like two months ago.
My family is improvised, therefore, money is not an issue cuz no matter what school i go to, my mom is not going to pay for it.

My essays are ok, and my recommendations are awesome.

sorry about sounding too direct, but...little to no chance.

Yale is pretty hard. I think it's the rank and a failing course that would hold against you. (Never complain about a teacher. It would show you as immature.) Show that you are motivated and have overcame obstacles in life, possibly using your failing course and how you realize life is not perfect and lie your teacher was helpful despite failing and so on.

Your rank isn't so bad if you're in a competitive school and have other dimensions. I'm willing to bet that usually top 5% is good enough for Yale. I'm just not sure if the EC's and test scores are there.

Try it, you never know. I certainly wouldn't be applying now if I completely believed it to be a numbers game- my SAT result has been known to cause vomiting. Not speaking figuratively either.

And honestly, the asian thing isn't a drawback. They definitely don't penalize you for it. You just have to break through the stereotype. Which means, ECs, Essays, and recommendations are your place to shine. Math awards and AP science while helpful, won't get you that big of a boost. Your uphill battle is from that point of view.

In my opinion.

Can't say for sure. What is your SAT score?

I think you mean to say your family is "impoverished", not improvised...

sorry. Very little chance of acceptance as someone had said previously, failing a class [unless you can explain=besides the teacher was the problem] is looked upon negatively. Plus you ECs aren't amazing enough to negate your standardized test. Unless your essay is outstanding, it would be difficult. Your AP Macro and Micro As aren't truly standout because your scores were 4 and 3 respectively. As=5s on the exam in reality. Best of luck though.
