Chance an Atheist applying to Villanova!

I added 'atheist' to get your attention, it doesn't really have any importance in this thread. Moving on...

SAT breakdown:
Overall 2310
800 CR
730 M
780 Writing

Does Nova superscore? That is my superscore. My highest individual score is 2260 with the same scores in CR and W but 680 M.

My GPA is 3.4 UW. I will have taken 5 AP's and numerous other honors courses by the time I'm a senior.

-EC's-
- I've been volunteering at the local children's hospital for three years and serve on the Volunteer's Council with 10 of my peers. I've accumulated about 150 hours of service at the hospital.

I attended the Washington Workshops summer seminar during the summer of my sophomore year.

I have been a member of the track team for 3 years and will continue to run during my senior year.

I served on my local congressman's election campaign during the 2008 elections.

I am a member of the Young Democrats at my school and serve on the executive board. I've been in the club since my freshman year.

I am a member of the Academic Challenge team at my school.

I started the Financial Investment and Analysis club with a friend.

I will be taking two SAT ll's in October and will probably score above 700 in both.

As you can see, I have dedicated myself to a my local hospital and show commitment by not just being a volunteer, but by serving on the executive board. My other main focus is politics, which should help.

Thanks for reading and chancing, I really appreciate it =)

Can I ask why you want to go to Villanova? I just find it odd that a liberal atheist would want to attended a Catholic university.
At any rate, I don’t see you having any problem getting in. I think you could consider some higher ranked schools.

Well Ryan, I have a few reasons. For one, I thought the campus was beautiful. I also like to surround myself with people of different perspectives. Of course I wouldn’t be the only liberal atheist, but the town I live in is very catholic and very conservative. I’m used to being in the minority. You say I can shoot for some higher ranked schools, would these include Vanderbilt, Notre Dame, William and Mary or UVA? I’ve visited them all but assumed my chances would be slim.

^^
Ach, yee of little faith.

Just kidding, but ACTUALLY, you should have a bit of faith in yourself. Your SAT scores, even the non-superscored one, is pretty good. Therefore, I think you would have a decent shot in many of your “slim chance” schools.

You are quite involved, especially in furthering your party views and you have a recommendation from your CONGRESSMAN (whether State or National,it’s pretty impressive)

Unforunately, I don’t know much about Villanova itself. I know you like the physical environment and the variety of people, but does it also fit your intended major and/or courses?

I’m interested in business and politics, and the Nova business school is very well regarded.

UVA might be a reach if you’re out of state. If you are in VA and not from NoVa I think you would have a real shot there.
Vanderbilt and Notre Dame are both reaches, but I think it would be worth applying.
Just to clarify, I wasn’t talking down to you. I was just curious what the appeal of Villanova was for you.
My GPA was just under a 3.5, my SAT was lower than yours and I don’t think my ECs were as strong as yours and I got into UVA (in state) and Vanderbilt.

I didn’t think you were, sorry if I came off as being a bit defensive. Anyway, your advice was helpful, thanks.

i think you should go for all of those schools that you were mentioning and I think you would get in all of them too. Your SAT scores pwned mine and I’m applying to way more selective schools, so you should have more confindence in yourself and go for it.
