Tufts - high match? i was already denied through early decision

Here’s what a good college counselor told my son last year: ED is a good read. If you are rejected from your ed school it’s unlikely you’ll get into schools that are more competitive. It happens, but that’s generally the case with schools below the random HYPS.

hmom: exactly…

lc: you are EXTREMELY fortunate that you were accepted to UMich since your UW GPA looks like it’s prob in the high 80’s…unless you have an unidentified hook all remaining schools look reachy…

Dartmouth: Reach
Duke: Reach
Cornell: Reach
Wesleyan: Reach
Vanderbilt: Low Reach
Emory: High Match
Colgate: Match

Tufts: High Reach
Dartmouth: High Reach
Duke: high Reach
Cornell: Reach
Wesleyan: Low Reach
Vanderbilt: High Match
Emory: Match
Colgate: Low Match

^I would agree that Dartmouth and Duke are very unlikely and probably all the rest would be under 50% chance, but in the running. I’m not sure how you get ‘low match’ for Colgate with a 24% acceptance rate and a median SAT of accepted students of 1415. I would bet you will get into at least one of Cornell, Wesleyan, Vanderbilt, Emory, Colgate, but would say they’re all low reaches.

thanks guy, any more?

I’m really hoping for Colgate or Wesleyan or Emory, after denial from Tufts i’m worried though

lc: demographics pls? (male, female, ethnic group, urm ?) and are you applying for FA? also, since I do not see calc on you AP list, what is your highest math level?

white/jewish Male at a NJ public school, applying for financial aid. I’m currently taking statistics (took pre-calculus last year).

maybe Colgate (since I know someone who was admitted w/o calc)…Emory is doubtful (demographics, no calc, other candidates w more AP’s/higher GPA’s)…no idea about Wesleyan…

why do you need calculus to apply to colleges?

You’re easily in at Colgate

in case you guys were curious of the final decisions:

Emory (Accept)

Cornell (Waitlist)
Wesleyan (Waitlist)
Vanderbilt (Waitlist)
