IB has its good and bad haha. I basically knocked out seven classes with my IB scores (yay!) but I think I could’ve done the same if I did all AP classes as well. I think I had a better registration time as well because I came in with more units.

Good stats, I think you have a pretty good chance. (: Did you go to Walnut by any chance? :o

I had similar stats (slightly lower gpa and higher SATs) and got in two years ago, so barring some big hike in the point cutoff you should be in.

AP scores and IB’s just make it possible to graduate early (or on time if you’re a SomethingE major).

AP and IB basically do the same thing in terms of getting credit for certain classes. However, if you get 30 (or is it 31? not sure) total points from IB, you get 30 unassigned credits. This doesn’t really do anything besides give you a really good enrollment time in comparison to your peers. I took IB (and got more than 30 points) and several AP tests that went along with my IB classes (like AP Calc, Bio, Econ, etc.) and I entered with quite a bit of credits.

In response to your stats, it seems like you are a guaranteed lock to get into UCSD.

tulips: walnut ib isn’t THAT bad. i don’t understand how one ib program could be better/worse than the other. maybe in terms of the grades that the teachers give, but in terms of the ib tests, there wouldn’t be a difference. i dunno tho
