Oh and I would be majoring in electrical and computer engineering

Engineering College would be a reach for you now, but if you can show an upward trend in your grades, that would be a positive. I would retake the SAT, after taking some practice exams to attempt to get those scores up.

Balthezar: I don’t agree with you. SAT is not enough. Math 610?

The middle 50% of Engineering Students admitted last year have the following stats:

ACT 30-33 and/or SAT 1920-2150 and a Hish School Percentage rank of 92%-98%. He doesn’t state his HSPR, but his GPA of 3.25 seems low, and even a 610 math score barely makes the cut. His overall SAT is 1610, which is much lower than the middle 50% of those admitted too.

I’m not saying he doesn’t have a chance, but it certainly isn’t a good one. Just being honest here. The good news is that there is always a college that is good fit. If he convinces the adcoms of his passions, he’s got a shot.

I agree with Blathezar. UIUC, particularly for engineering, is definitely a reach for you. Your SAT score is roughly equivalent to a 23 or 24 on the ACT which is unfortunately far below the middle 50% range for engineering, as well as the university as a whole. I wouldn’t say acceptance is impossible, but I would be sure to apply to safety schools as well.

doesnt illinois have
Percent applicants admitted: 69%

You’re just going to have to wait for a decision. I always wish applicants good luck. On an individual level, statistics don’t favor your application, but there are always exceptions. Hope that you’re one of them.
