International Applicant from India (But I am a US citizen!)
When people in these threads say, “Do you really think you’re one of the best students in India? That’s what HYPSM are looking to admit,” they’re probably thinking of students of your caliber as the best.
IMO you should be a really strong applicant for most of these. Are you in need of financial aid?
@awesomepolyglot I have applied for financial aid, but that shouldn’t matter as I am a US citizen thus most of these schools are need blind for me (All, I think, except for Fordham) @GMTplus7 There has been alot of confusion over this, and I’m still not sure what the answer is! Penn had told me that for admissions purpose I am an international, but for fin aid I am domestic. On the other hand Brown says I’m domestic, so no idea
Would either of you be able to predict ‘Acceptance’ or ‘rejection’?
First of all congratulations on all your achievements. Your stats are phenomenal.
Even though the Ivys are crapshoots for everyone, you’ve got a really really good chance at each of them.
You might just get rejected from harvard stanford or yale( though i doubt it) just because of their extremely low acceptances, but you are a very strong applicant!
For all the other schools listed i think you will get accepted.
So thats a rejection from almost everywhere? @billcsho
Edit: By that logic, it would be safer to bet no on every school with a <50% acceptance rate. I think the applicant quality weighs in in making such predictions!
I’m aware of that. Still, chances are that one would get accepted to one, or probably more than one of the above colleges if they are strong enough. Keeping that in mind, why not predict an accept or reject for fun?
Wow, these are some amazing stats! IMO you are much stronger than many of your peers.
Keep in mind though that if you’re classified as an international applicant (I’m not sure how you can be that AND a US Citizen), you face wayyyy more competition… Last year I had an international friend who placed very high in International Math AND Physics Olympiad and still getting rejected from HYPS… He got into MIT
That being said, if the rest of your app (recs, essays, etc) is stellar, I think you have a decent chance of getting into several of these schools, save HYS… (After all, they only take 5 people out of every 100…) By that I don’t mean you won’t get in, just that they are really really unpredictable.
So yeah, I wouldn’t expect too much from the top ivies/Stanford, but I think you do have a great chance. No matter how many schools you get rejected from, be proud of all your hard work and achievements!
Remember, if a school decides that you don’t deserve them, it means that THEY don’t deserve you either.
Univ of Pennsylvania (M&T Program plus Wharton backup) - reject
Harvard - reject
Stanford - reject
Yale - reject
Brown - reject
Cornell (AEM in CALS) - either possible
UCB (L&S) - either possible
UCLA - either possible
Northwestern - reject
Duke - reject
Univ of Michigan (LSA + Ross pre admit) - accept
Babson - do not know
Univ of Virginia - accept
UNC Chapel Hill - reject

You honestly remind me of the main character in a mini movie clip, “Acceptance” (based on a true story), on youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7r93LEFjpCA). He has everything going for him, but then gets rejected from all of the ivies, and eventually gets into Harvard in the end haha. Anyways:
Univ of Pennsylvania (M&T Program plus Wharton backup) - possibly
Harvard - reject
Stanford - don’t know, I don’t really identify a specific passion that stands out even though all of your EC’s are amazing
Yale - reject
Brown - maybe
Cornell (AEM in CALS) - probably yeah
UCB (L&S) - probably accept
UCLA - accept
Northwestern - don’t know
Duke - don’t know
Univ of Michigan (LSA + Ross pre admit) - accept
Babson - accept
Univ of Virginia - accept
UNC Chapel Hill - 50/50
Fordham - don’t know
@ayyyyyyy
Come on man I’m not like the Acceptance Guyyyy xD Believe me, my essays are all honest and make me seem human (MY recs are also really helpful there) unlike the Acceptance Guy who seems like a robot.
Actually, I believe I have highlighted passion: Entrepreneurship, Business, Leadership with a love for Sports. Also, my essays have really succesfuly highlighted my entrepreneurial passion everywhere!
Thansk alot
