Please chance me for:
M&T (ED)
Wharton (ED)

Your chance is between Accept and Reject!

The chance you thread is meaningless. Nobody can really chance you. Just relax and cross your fingers!

@f2000sa I know its not too meaningful, Im just doing it for fun :stuck_out_tongue: Definitely am crossing my fingers.
Lets see who gets it right. We`ll know in 45 days or so

Hi ShaunakK98,
In my opinion you have a good shot at M&T. I want to let you know what can be disappointing about applying to M&T and Wharton ED. If I understand the dual-degree admission process correctly, your application won’t be considered for Wharton ED unless admissions decides not to accept you to M&T. If admissions cannot decide whether or not to admit you to M&T ED, your application will be deferred to RD without even considering you for Wharton in the ED round. To me it seems like the kinder process would be for admissions to decide on the secondary choice first so at least you would know you are accepted to Wharton, then defer the M&T decision to RD.

Data from last year for M&T

M&T alumni conducted over 923 admissions interviews with candidates for a coverage rate of 99.6%!

For 50 spots.

@lslmom Thanks for the chance!
No I dont think thats true. This is what the Penn website says

"Does applying to a Coordinated Dual Degree Program like M&T hurt my chances for single degree admission to UPenn?

No, applying to a CDD such as M&T does not diminish your chances overall for admission to the university. Selecting a single degree choice as a back up can only provide you with additional options."

What I think is, if they defer action on M&T, they will let my application go to Wharton. Then if accepted to Wharton, they will consider M&T in RD.

Thanks for your help!

Ok so I emailed 2 M&T officials and got different replies from both.

One said exactly what you say, @lslmom . If I get deferred from M&T during ED, I wont be considered for Wharton ED

However, the other said that M&T doesnt defer applicants in the Early round, only gives accept or reject.

Well I`m confused now!

@f2000sa I seriously doubt that information, it goes against everything I`ve heard.
So from what I gather, the M&T Admissions process is altogether seperate. It has a different adcom, different sessions, etc. You gain entrance to the program as a whole, not individually to both schools.

Anyways, I just called the Penn Admissions Office and well, good news! So apparently, for those applicants who chose a back up school (in my case, Wharton), you will only be accepted or rejected. You can`t be rejected. If, however, you do not opt for a binding second school choice, you can be deferred from M&T

@lslmom

Accept (more likely for Wharton, but hopefully for T&M)
Good luck!! (from a fellow 2020 Penn EDer)

Yeah I agree. I see an acceptance to Wharton, but a rejection from M & T.

@VaishS @jarrett211 Thanks for the chances! Good luck to both of you!

You obviously have what it takes to get accepted into many top schools, Penn being one of them. At this point I think its just a numbers game with regards to diversity/ interests and diversity of interests to match with what they are looking for in this class. Are there many applicants from India applying, and what are their stats etc… those things we can’t tell you, but your resume is impressive!

Thanks for chancing me!

You’re scores are definitely there, but quite frankly they have to be given that you’re an international applicant. Early decision is a good choice for you.

Props on the profile picture and good luck from a fellow ED applicant!

M&T is super hard to get in. They have at least 996 applicants for the 50 sports last year. Even harder for internationals.

@f2000sa 926 applicants

M&T CLASS OF 2019 PROFILE:

51 students, of which 27% are female.
23% of the class is international, hailing from:
Jordan
Canada
India
China
Ethiopia
Iran
Ireland
Panama
Spain
Turkey
Venezuela
Hong Kong

Domestically, the Class of 2019 regional break down is:
29% Northeast / Mid-Atlantic
18% South
14% Midwest
16% West

Seven students participated in the Management & Technology Summer Institute (M&TSI)

Yep, but still number of applicants was 926.
23% of class international means 12 students.Thats strange, I know 3 Indians in M&T in this batch!!

Oops sorry. The 3 I know are in the batch of 2018

Hi, I have applied ED for M&T (primary) and Wharton (secondary). I have gotten an interview for M&T and gave it 2 weeks ago, but have not been contacted for a Wharton interview. Can anyone shed light on this? Do students who apply to both typically get 1 or 2 interviews? I’m really WORRIED!
