Chance an international

18 years old white Hungarian male.

GPA: 3.7 (4.7 on the standard 5 point scale used in Hungary)

Class rank: School doesn't rank (none of the Hungarian schools does)

but definitely in top 10 % in the class of 130

Classes taken: Problems start here. The Hungarian education system doesn't allow students to choose the subjects they are studying only to pick to subjects from what you take 2 extra lessons /week.
Over 50 % of students in our school only take one and 20 % don't take any.

So junior year's course load is:

    English

    Hungarian

    Mathematics

    Computer science

    History

    PE

    Electronics

    Physics

I've taken the extra hours from CS and English

Senior year is the same except i will take extra physics and mathematics instead of CS and English.

The school itself: the school has about 600 students half of whom stay here for 5 years instead of the standart four. (I'm one of them)

The teachers say that the school has pretty good reputation among hungarian engineering colleges.

Exams: To graduate every students must pass the so called "

Im exactly in the same situation as you, i’m an international student applying from Venezuela and have the same issue with my subjects, meaning i dont get to choose what I get thaught in school.
Well best of luck to you, sorry I can’t be of much assistance

Few things i forgot to mention:

My parents are divorced and i lived through really hard times with my mother. I’m the first generation in my family who go to college.

My first 3 years at high school was terrible; my average was less around 3 (on the 5 point scale!) and i even failed from physics.

@EnriqueC
It really sucks that they tell you what do you have to learn.

Anyone? Please?

If you don’t need financial aid, you should get into some of these schools. With aid it just depends on your competition from your country, you seem qualified for any school.

I really need financial aid; 200 000 bucks for the four years is more than what my mother earns in 10 years. lol. The good thing is that there is virtually no competition, although a lot of guys say they want to study in the states only a handful of them actually apply.
