Chance an iOS Developer for MiT, CMU, Cornell and More!

Greetings, denizens of College Confidential! I'm a rising senior, and I would greatly appreciate if you would weigh in on my college chances.

About Me
• School Type: Private (Religious, the best in my area)
• Location: Pennsylvania
• Race/Gender: Caucasian Male
• Parent's Income: ~$175,000
• Prospective Major: Computer Science
• Weighted GPA: 4.2/4.0 (My high school has a weird weighting system where only my weighted GPA is shown on my transcript; I've had all A's throughout high school, except for 1 B freshman year)
• Class Rank: School doesn't rank.
• Courseload: Most rigorous available - all honors; my high school doesn't offer any APs until senior year, but I'll be taking every AP (all 2 of them) and dual enrollment course offered.
• Hooks: 1st generation college student

SAT I Scores
• Math: 800
• Critical Reading: 730
• Writing|Essay: 760|12
• Total: 2290 (Planning to retake in the fall)

SAT II Scores
• Math II: 800
• Biology E/M: 800

Summer Programs
• 2 week robotics program at The George Washington University
• 2 week iOS Development Program at MiT (iD Programming Academy). For what it's worth, I received CEU credits from Stanford for completing this course.

Job Experience/Internships
• Starting in August, I will be interning at a local LLC as an iOS developer. I'm close friends with the owner, and I have donated TONS of code to him in the past. Most likely, he will write a letter of recommendation for me during my application process.

Extracurriculars
• Apple Developer Program: I've been developing apps for the iOS Developer Program for 5 years, and I have two apps in the App Store, including my high school's official app. I'm also a member of the iCloud/Mac Developer Programs, and I should have completed my first Mac app (called Vineyard, a Vine viewer for Mac) and submitted to the Mac App Store by the end of the summer.
• Lehigh Valley Tech: I've been a member of Lehigh Valley Tech, a group of young(ish) tech entrepreneurs, developers, designers, and enthusiasts who share their recent projects every month. At their inaugural meeting, I was their youngest member by about 10 years. I have competed at both of their hackathons, and I've gained multiple mentors who would write recommendations for me.
• Podcasting: I created/produce/(kind of) host 3 podcasts - a personal show about tech, politics, comedy, and fitness, a religious podcast hosted by my priest, and a show about my high school - all of which are available on iTunes and have a decent following.
• Mock Trial: I'm a 4 year member and 2 year captain of my school's mock trial team. During freshman and sophomore year, I was a starting witness and won the best witness award. During junior year, I was a starting lawyer (head council member) and won the best advocate (lawyer) award.

Honorable Mention EC's
• picoCTF: I assembled a team of students to compete at picoCTF, a high school hacking competition hosted by Carnegie Mellon University. Our team did okay (200th/2000) and I did most of the work.
• NHS: 2 years (max duration at my school), current Vice President, 150+ hours of community service
• Student Council: current representative (nothing special)
• Altar Serving: I've been an altar server at my church for 10 years.
• Lectoring: I've been lecturing at my church for 4 years.
• I ran a small startup where I jailbroke iOS devices and registered UDIDs for iOS betas. Although the jailbreaking community has died down recently, I still have an exploit in my back pocket that I'm waiting to unleash.
• ACLU Member
• I did some campaign work for Gary Johnson during his 2012 presidential bid.
• Activist for the Alzheimer's Association (which killed my grandfather in February)
• Self taught guitarist for 6 years

Now, for the fun part - prospective colleges:
• MiT (EA)
• Stanford (long shot)
• Carnegie Mellon (SCS or ECE, possibly ED)
• Cornell (CoE, possibly ED)
• Notre Dame (FWIW, my cousin is an architecture professor there and has designed multiple buildings for them)
• Lehigh (CSB program)
• UF
• George Washington
• NYU

If you took the time to read all of this, you're an amazing person. I'm in the process of writing my essays in order for them to be top notch. Are there any other schools that are worth applying to with my stats (preferably east coast)? I'll gladly chance back. Thanks!

cough bump cough

C’mon, everybody! Join the party! :)

You’re extremely competitive for all your colleges. MIT/Stanford-Reach, Cornell/CMU-High match, low reach, Notre Dame/NYU-Match, all else-Safety

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1520514-chance-me-homeschooled-all-12-years.html</a>
Chance back?

You’ve definitely demonstrated interest in your prospective major and your ECs are pretty focused, with enough diversity to show you’re well-rounded enough. Your W GPA is a bit on the low side for MIT and Stanford, you have solid SATs.

• MiT: reach
• Stanford: reach
• Carnegie Mellon: low reach/high match
• Cornell: low reach
• Notre Dame: match
• Lehigh: match
• UF: safety
• George Washington: match
• NYU: match

Chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1520716-chance-me-stanford-georgetown-ucs-ill-chance-back-asap.html</a></p>

Not sure if SATs are worth retaking, although I guess if you feel there isn’t something more worthwhile to allocate your time to, it’s fine.

I’m pretty sure when you’re 2300~ any higher scores have a marginal effect if any.

@iceskaterr, GWU is a safety for OP, scores and GPA are both way above 75th. The school does have a reputation for tufts syndrome though so OP should express interest.

@Divy1234 That won’t be a problem; I’m spending two weeks at GW for their Summer Immersion program, and I’ve attended their SEAS open house. Also, I’ll probably interview because they seem to adore interviewees [from what I’ve heard].

Yeah it’s a big time safety for you. You look good for every where else but they are so unpredictable that you can never know for sure. Safeties fr GW, UF, Lehigh. NYU should be a match. Others are up in the air.
