Chance me for Ann Arbor, GTech, UIUC and Cornell?

So i'm a senior applying to colleges this fall, and I'd like to know what my chances are for the following as a computer science major:

Georgia Tech (EA), UMich Ann Arbor (EA), UIUC (Priority Decision - basically the same thing as EA)

Cornell (ED)

Princeton (RD), Stanford (RD), CMU (RD)

I'm an American citizen (Indian ethnicity) living in India.

SAT: 1480/2190 (CR - 730, M - 750, W - 710)
SAT II: Math II - 800, Physics - 750
Class Rank: 1 out of 170

9th/10th Grade -
I did GCSEs and got 7A*s and 2 As (which is probably the equivalent of a 4.0)

Junior Year:

IB Economics HL - 7/7
IB Math HL - 7/7
IB Computer Science HL - 6/7
IB Physics SL - 7/7
IB Spanish SL - 7/7
IB English SL - 6/7

(Total: 40/42... I'm doing the IB diploma programme)

AP Computer Science - 5
AP Microeconomics - 5

Senior Year:

IB Economics HL - 7/7
IB Math HL - 7/7
IB Computer Science HL - 7/7
IB Physics SL - 7/7
IB Spanish SL - 7/7
IB English SL - 7/7

(42/42 predicted grade)

ECs:

Android Developer - 11th, 12th : I developed an app for my school's math department on request and managed the others involved who helped in producing the GUI components.

Guitar - 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th : I was part of a guitar ensemble and also was a member of a band for two years playing rhythm guitar.

I've also been playing the Mandolin since the beginning of Junior year

Volunteer teacher at a local government school (I taught a middle school class basic IT skills for 1 year)

Sales internship at an IT firm (11th Summer) - I basically went around the city with a sales rep at the company pitching the product to clients.

I developed a website for the school's CAS (It's an IB thing) department.

Choir member - 11th, 12th

Volunteered at a hospice nearby for a year by helping talk to the patients and helping the nurses with simple medical work.

Teacher Recs - both really good
Recc from my boss during internship - really good

Common App Essay - pretty good, I think it's rather un-clichey and brings out a different side to me that the activities/academics don't reflect

Cornell/ Georgia Tech Supplement - Sounds really convincing (I talked about research opportunities that I literally can't find anywhere else in the country at the same level)

I still have to write my Ann Arbor and UIUC essays but I'm fairly certain I can do them well.

I realize my ECs aren't that great and imo Cornell, Stanford, Princeton and CMU are reaches and everything else is a match but i'm obviously biased towards myself so I appreciate the input.

Cornell: Reach
Stanford: Reach
Princeton: Reach
CMU: Reach
UIUC: Match/High match
UMI: High match
GA Tech: Match/High match

UMass Amherst should be considered for a safety…

Cornell: low reach
Stanford: high reach
Princeton: high reach
CMU: high match / low reach
UIUC: low match / safety (why does everyone always chance this so highly?)
UMI: mid match
GA Tech: mid match

Good luck! :)

@Catria, thanks i’ll look into UMass Amherst.

Thank you both for reading and answering!

For UMich, there are 2 computer science programs. One in CoE and one in LSA. You should be a high match for LSA and low reach for CoE as oos student. The tuition is very expensive though. UIUC has 3 computer science programs. One in engineering and 2 in LAS (with Math or Statistics). The one in engineering may be slightly more competitive. You should be a match to high match for them.

@Thebeatlestoday:
UIUC engineering is very competitive. The mid 50 ACT (31-34) and average GPA (3.9) are pretty much the same as UMich CoE. They also have a smaller ratio of oos students. For non-engineering majors, UIUC is less competitive. For oos students applying to engineering programs, it is as competitive as UMich. OP’s SAT (CR+M 1480) is right at the 75%.

Does EA affect my chances at all for UIUC and UMich? I know you shouldn’t just EA for a higher acceptance rate but I was just wondering if it did.

UIUC: Low Match/ Match
U Michigan: Match/ High Match
GA Tech: Match/ High match
Cornell: Reach
Stanford: Reach
Princeton: Reach
CMU: Low Reach

I’m sure you’ll get into most of these. Good luck!

Edit: For some reason, I thought that you were doing engineering. I have adjusted things accordingly.

EA to UMich may have a small advantage. EA may also help you to get financial aid. For UIUC, I think you need to do EA to meet the merit aid deadline. For schools that are in the match range, you should do EA.

Alright… but is there anything I can do to bump my chances up a little so that I can get into at least one of these colleges? And is it likely that I’ll get into at least one of these as I stand right now? I know I should apply to safeties but I feel like no college other than the ones I mentioned suit me.

Hi,

My top college choice is Georgia Tech in order to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering.
