Hey peeps,

I'm planning to major in visual arts, so I'm applying to a lot of art colleges. Those admissions are almost entirely portfolio-based, so obviously most people here wouldn't be able to judge very well. But I would like your help with a few general studies schools I am applying to!

ACADEMICS.
GPA (unweighted) - 3.7
GPA (weighted) - 4.6
SAT - 800 (CR) / 800 (Writing) / 690 (Math) = 2290 total... should I retake?
SAT IIs - haven't taken them yet
AP's - French (5), U.S. History (5)
taking 4 APs this year: Art, English, Stats, European History
- worth noting I suppose is that I skipped a grade in math and French (the only two subjects that my school allows people to skip grades in).
- placed in the top 5 for the National French Contest 3 years.
- attending a pretty competitive suburban public school, generally ranked among top 3 in the region. Class size about 400.
- no class rank.

EXTRACURRICULARS... a weak area, I'm afraid.
- 3 years on literary magazine staff, now senior editor & art editor.
- 4 years as member of Emergency, which involves raising funds and awareness for global causes.
- 2 years as co-founder of Folklore club.
- about 50 hours of community service.
- private art lessons since elementary school.
- attended Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Arts.
edit: Oh yes, and I'm also going to take a gap year to work in Americorps. Thought it might be worth mentioning.

ESSAY/RECCS.
- Both should be very solid.

LOOKING AT...
BU
NYU
Cornell
Brown
Columbia (Early Decision)

These are just the general studies schools. Art schools I'm applying to, if you're interested: Cooper Union (somewhat laughable, I know), Parsons, RISD, Pratt, SMFA, MICA

Okay, did I leave anything out? I tried to keep it fairly short, ommitted some community service/EC details and whatnot, but am perfectly willing to elaborate upon request.

If anyone knows of any other good match schools with strong art programs, please feel free to suggest!

Thanks everyone in advance.
