Hi I am an international transfer applicant from australia. I have applied to the following universities--
Arizona state,
Virginia Tech,
Kansas state,
Texas a&m,
University of nebraska lincoln,
University of Minnesota-Twin cities

My stats are --

SAT 1 --2200/2400, 1490/1600
SAT 2 -- math 2 -670, physics -720
Toefl - 112/120
High school gpa approx 3.2

College gpa -2.5
Credit hours covered ( american equivalent ) - 48
I am also doing a 3 month JAVA programming course with a private computer institute.

I realise my 2.5 is kinda low however something really bad had happened in my first year which led me to fail a paper. However I took extra courses and covered it the next semester. I intend to explain the situation about it the universities since I believe the incident did not allow me to perform as well academically as possible.
What are my chances?? is my 2.5 going to hurt me bad????

i was hoping atleast ASU’s high acceptance rate along with my SAT score might push it in my favor atleast a little bit, is that possible?? because I checked with the admission’s office, they said submitting SAT scores is better.

thnxs for the reply!! I realise UMN is an awesome school and to be honest applying there I know I wouldnt get it, however you really think my SATs are the problem?? I mean if i had to guess I would say my gpa is just too low. I really dont think a SAT score of 2200 is bad for UMN, especially one that they ‘would not even consider’.

No. I said that they won’t consider your SATs because of the number of credits you have completed. Since your SATs are one of the strongest parts of your application, this is not great news for your chances.

Only “transfer applicants with fewer than 26 college credits complete” have SATs evaluated at UMN.

ahh ok thanks i understand now…so i decided to leave UMN out…I am applying to schools that are not soo great but reasonably good in order to boost my chances of admission. I am gonna apply to U of nebraska, UT arlington, kansas state, ASU, West Virginia University. Hope I get in. Anewayz thanks for your response! cheers. :)
