Chance at UNC?

I am a sophomore. I go to a prestigious private school in North Carolina. I have always wanted to go to University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. My father when to graduate school there and taught several classes. I struggle with academics, however. I do well on standardized test. I took the PSAT and got a 180. I have taken the practice ACT but have not yet received my scores. I currently have a 2.76 unweighted GPA. My strongest asset is my extracurricular activities. I am very involved in several organizations including my church. I also have taught several science camps over the summer with my mother for years. I have started a science book club at my local library which meets once a month and does various hands on activities relating to the theme of the book they read over the past month. So in review:

Scores:
180 PSAT
2.75 GPA

Other:
In-state
Father attended graduate school at UNC
Various service organizations

Do I have a chance of UNC? How can I better my chances? Your answers are very appreciated.

If you can bring your GPA up to at least 3.0…

UNC Chapel Hill: reach

Thank you for the replies. I also forgot to mention that I have published an article in the North Carolina Numismatic Associations journal. I do not know if that will help at all but I thought that I should mention it.

You’re in state, that’s huge. If you can get your weighted GPA up to a 3.5 and challenge yourself with hard classes, I think you’ll get in. If you can’t get your GPA up to that but you get close, then dedicated EC’s and strong essays could push you in.

I believe that if you boost up your GPA and take challenging classes you will be good to go. I think it helps you have good extra circular activities UNC likes that. My cousin goes there now he had a high GPA but lower SAT like 1600’s, it just depends.

Thank you very much to all of you! I definitely hope to raise my GPA.

Is there anything else you all can think of besides raising my GPA that could help me further my chances? Thank you.

any more comments?

Update: I received a 25 on my PLAN (pre-ACT) test.
