<p>If you emphasize the math aspects of you and raise your SAT score, you have a decent chance of getting admitted. They prefer legacy applicants in SCEA, because its an indication you are intending to carry on the legacy. Don’t emphasize your traveling as an EC unless you did something truly remarkable, because it just shows you have money to travel and little more; it certainly isn’t beneficial to your chances. The research would be a good idea to emphasize as well. You also might want to consider taking a humanities oriented SAT II to show you aren’t deficient there, although that is not a requirement (and shouldn’t be done unless you think you will score well on it.)</p>

<p>If his SAT scores get to the 2200+ range, he has a chance. The counselor recommendation should discuss the extenuating circumstances of his grades, which will not make them seem as bad as they could, especially if his freshman and junior grades are stellar. If not sure why you think you have no shot at any Ivy except Cornell; you really can’t know anything until your admissions decisions are handed out in the spring.</p>
