wondering if you could chance me for (in order of reach)

For stanford I have been working ridiculously hard on my essays so those plan to be really good. Writing about how I impacted my school and the legacy that I left behind in starting a club that would help shy speakers as a result of my work in SGA (student government) for four years. Just a note.

Stanford
Berkeley
Northwestern
Hopkins
Tufts
College Park
Illinois Urbana Champagne
UMBC

Your ec’s are the only good part of your resume for these upper level schools. Nevertheless, I believe you have a good shot of getting into all of these schools except Hopkins, Stanford, and Northwestern. Don’t take this the wrong way but I think that you have a 1% chance of getting into Stanford or Northwestern because of your GPA even if you took rigorous courses, a 3.57 GPA is low. Hopkins is a reach but it is possible since you could have good essays. Berkley is also a definite possibility.

To be honest, a 2150 would help for Stanford, Hopkins, and Northwestern because a lot of people who apply have somewhere around that score, and that would put you on an even playing field. Plus, your ec’s are nice. The only problem is that GPA of yours. But, I still think you could get into every school on your list except Northwestern and Stanford which I believe are stretches.

and the thing about hopkins and possibly northwestern is that i havent taken subject tests for specific reasons and my ACT is what will matter there

22% of applicants are admitted to Berkeley, and only 18% of applicants are admitted to Northwestern. Mid-Range Sat test scores for Berkeley are 600-720- Reading, 650-770- Math, 620-740- Writing. Mid-Range test scores for Northwestern are 680-760- Reading, 700-780- Math, 680-770- Writing. Mid-Range ACT scores for Berkeley are 28-33 whereas for Northwestern it is 31-34. I think the only reason you may not get into Berkeley would be because you are not in state, but they will still accept you if you are qualified enough. Now I am not saying you will get into Berkeley. I am just simply saying that if you were to apply, then you would have a good chance of getting in.

OP, I seriously think that you have higher chances of getting into Northwestern or JHU than Berkeley with a stat like yours. Why? Because, Berkeley, unlike Northwestern or JHU, weighs HS GPA more than they do SATs. And, your GPA of 3.57 is substantially way below those Berkeley admits’.

^^^ No one here knows what your actual chances are, because that would all depend upon the quality of students applying the same year you’ll do. In other words, you’ll be competing with your peers and you’ll be ranked. That’s one reason. Another is, Berkeley’s admissions are holistic. But even then, unless your ECs are great, and Personal Statement is superbly done, you have a very slim chance at Berkeley. With (an unweighted) GPA of 3.57 and a combined SAT score og 2200, I think you’re still a weak candidate for Berkeley. Maybe, just maybe, if you can score a 2300 (plus an 800 on SAT2) maybe you’ll get noticed, and eventually get accepted. But this is just me talking. I still suggest that you apply. You wouldn’t really know unless you did it.
