Chance current sophomore for Deerfield/Exeter/Andover/Choate

If you look closely, you’ll see I’m taking Honors Bio this year. No physics, because the goal of my school for the frosh/soph year is to get the state requirements out of the way. It’d be too much of a hassle to do physics and chem in one year, so they just chose to do chem I and II. Physics isn’t a requirement in my state, although I do plan on taking it.

However, my school does NOT allow the students to chose their own courses for the first two years (everybody takes the same classes according to what maths they had in middle school). This means we take 4 core classes every semester, plus a state required elective (gym, computer apps, foreign language - in my school’s case, latin etc).

What other holes do you see in my courses?

Oh no holes, just confused. I suppose it’s just an alien system to me. Good luck with getting in!

Have you taken Geometry yet?

Why do you want to apply for BS. If you have all these stats at your current school and are doing the college program, you might as well stay.

Haha thanks Elmo. It’s an alien system to most people :p

I took Geometry this year, first semester. I guess people aren’t looking at my sophomore courses…

My school was mainly built for either minority or first-generation college students who might have not had the opportunity to go to college otherwise. That means the faculty is mostly concentrated on getting students into state schools, and isn’t that knowledgeable in getting students into top-tier unis. I believe only one student in our senior class has gotten in (or even applied) to T20 universities, and this is because this kid is neither of the above and has an amazing (and I mean, amazing) hook.

I did not realize such a rigorous school would have such low standards, college admissions wise, when I first came here. I know what I plan to do and where I plan to go, and believe that there would be certain resources (knowledgeable counselors, unique opportunities, etc) at BS that I will not find at my current school.

My school is still a great school, don’t get me wrong, and I am very lucky to have a great option in case I am not accepted. However, I believe BS provide me with an environment that would allow me to challenge myself even further.

Metallika’s right when she says he has an amazing hook.
Congrats girl on your acceptance.

Great stats!
