Thanks again for any input. I am so busy with sports at HS that it doesn't leave me a lot of room for other activities but my recommendations will be great and I will work really hard on my essays.

You will most likely be deferred EA but will be accepted in the RD pool. You stats are pretty much a match for VSB. The problem is that Villanova EA is more selective than RD for some reason. If that is where you want to go, don’t let the ES deferral bother you. Be patient and you will get in RD, guaranteed.

I kind of expected that since kids this year with my stats or just a little better had the same thing happen (EA deferred accepted RD). I figure it is still good to apply EA to show interest. My brother got in EA but with much better stats. He is going to Cornell. I like your guarantee though…thanks again.

You have very good stats, especially class rank. I have no doubt at all that you will get in RD. I have friends that are alums and who have had kids there recently. My son’s best friend is at Nova.

It is one of those stange things in admissions. Villanova is notorious for denying qualified kids when they apply EA and then accepting them RD. Most schools are easier to get in EA but for Villanova it is the opposite. I think it is a bad approach since a lot of kids get offended by the deferral and choose to go elswhere. By the time they are ultimately accepted in the RD pool they often are planning to go somewhere else.

However, you do have a great class rank. Your SAT is about average for Villanova or just slightly lower. You will get in though so don’t sweat it. I repeat my guarantee. You do have a shot at EA but if you get deferred don’t let it bother you. Most of the people enrolled in Villanova were deferred EA.

Good luck. You are in a very good position.

just an observation from the stats of my class (2014), many students who were accepted EA had no lower than 1300s on their SATS, but closer to 1350 and almost no one had a GPA lower than 3.85… 3.9-4.0 seemed to be a popular EA acceptance GPA…but like i said, it was just an observation, not a fact. good luck though! i think you have a great chance at getting in
