Chance for CAS ED!

Hi guys... I'm currently a senior, and have applied to CAS for early decision. I would really appreciate any replies!

School: Large, public high school in NJ (block scheduling so you can't really take a lot of APs, although some students will have 7 or 8, whereas I only have 5).

Race: Caucasian

Academic:
GPA- 4.05(UW), 4.34 (W) (My school had a weird scale freshman year, so now it's impossible to have over a 4.0 uw)
Never gotten anything lower than an A (93) in mainly honors and APs.

APs- Stat (4), English Lang (5)

PSAT-National Merit Commended from NJ

SAT- 2290 Superscore (800 CR, 750 M, 740 W)
Took Math II and Spanish in October, expecting upper 700s and mid 700s, respectively.

Senior year schedule- AP Calc BC, AP Physics C, AP Spanish Lang, a bunch of honors electives (most rigourous course load possible for this year). So far, I have all A's and A pluses in the APs.

EC's-
Co-pres. of temple youth group
School tennis team (JV past two years, hoping for varsity this year)
Weekly volunteer at program teaching disabled kids to play tennis
Ran a special fundraising event for the program (raised several hundreds of dollars in donations)

Member of:
-speech and debate
-interact club
-National honor society (tutoring for this club)
-Spanish honor society
-math honor society (tutoring for this club)
Rec basketball/baseball leagues
Writer for school newspaper
Piano player
Various tennis clinics and lessons

Summer: American Legion Jersey Boys State, Wharton Sports Business academy (both this past summer).

Essays:
Common App: outstanding!
Why Penn?: Decent/pretty good
Ben Franklin: Really good

Recs:
Counselor: I have no idea, but I think she likes me
Teachers: I'm confident that one will be incredibly glowing, and the other should be pretty good as well.

Thanks for any chances!

I forgot to mention that I don’t know of any better applicant applying from my school, and Penn generally takes either 1 or two students from ED from my school. Will my slight lack of APs hurt me though?

You’re in.

I just found out my scores for Sat II’s:

Spanish: 740

Math II: 770

I don’t know if this changes anything, but I figured I’d throw them out there!

Why didn’t you take more AP courses in junior year? Colleges expect you to take the most rigorous courses available.

You’ll be admitted.

My school uses block scheduling, and all AP’s have to end quarter 3. Some students take 3, whereas I took 2. In addition, some students take 1 sophomore year, where as I didn’t (the one AP sophomore year is APUSH, and history is the one core subject which I only took regular level). Basically, some students will have 7 APs (with the few exceptions of 8 or 9 depending on how much of a foreign language they know coming into HS), and I will have 5 by the time of graduation.

In my opinion, they will probably consider you academically qualified. It will come down to your essays.

You have a great record.

this scares me, I need to compete for spots against people like you! :p

Thanks! I’m just so nervous though for decision day. I hope I can get admitted, because Penn is my dream school!
