chance for UC Berkeley and UC Davis

It is a good idea to take SAT II for Biology, Chem, and Math 2 or Physics? Get 750+ on them and 2150 on SAT. It’s good how most of your EC is focused on passion for Biology. Internships or summer programs at institutions to further research is also good for you since you plan on going to science. It’s also good to go for competitions such as Siemens, Intel, or Bio Olympiad. Get one of those achievements, you are good to go.

thanks!

bump bump

Anyone else’s thoughts?

I think you have a very good shot at Davis. For Berkeley, well…your stats are right in there along with the people they accept, but it really is a toss up. You have a very good chance at both schools, but like the above poster said, taking some SATII’s will make your application stand out just a bit more than it already is. The personal statement is also important, so start working on that now!

Good luck!

Since you are a CA resident, you have a good shot at both schools. Why not apply to UCLA or USC?

bump bump bump

I’m going to take the subject tests. I’m taking Biology, US History, and Math.

Any more thoughts on Berekeley? I know there is no “for sure” but it is my top school choice! :)

Your application LOOKS light. Make sure you avoid that on the actual app. Convey your interest and add some substance to your ECs. For example, your community service in Spain is likely to set you apart, but wha was it on? How did you feel about it? This is something you have to convey. Also, take those subject tests, 700+ will suffice, after that they are pretty much useless for admission purposes. Your SAT is fine. Retaking your SAT for a 50 point increase is a silly waste of time. If you see a bigger increase go ahead, but a 2100 up to a 2150 is likely to keep your app the same and truthfully change nothing.

Defintely accepeted to UC Davis, but there is still much hope for Berkley. You scored 5’s on all those AP exams, proving you are more than ready at the college level, and you have impressive EC’s. 50/50 shot with Berkley with all honesty. Furthermore, do not doubt yourself! Form an impressive essay leaving the reader in utter shock, and retrieve a great recommendation.
Good gpa and scores! Definitely take an SAT subject test or two in something you are good at and/or something you will be majoring in. I think your SAT score is fine, but if you think you can get over 100+ increase definitely do it again.

I think your ECs are great despite what others have been saying. Although it will be better if you do show passion in a couple of the ones you’ve been doing longest or mean most to you. Also if you have any awards in tennis or other activities, emphasize those.
