Ok, so I know that college admissions are so up in the air and that no one is a shoe in and nobody has 0 chance and that really chancing people doesn’t do much of anything, but, that said, I think that hearing other people’s opinions is a welcome reprieve when going through this process so here it goes. What do you think my chances are of getting into Penn college of arts and sciences ED?
SAT I (breakdown): didn’t take
ACT (breakdown): 32 both times I took it, but superscore 33. Hoping to get it up to a 34 with studying this September.
SAT II: subpar honestly, won’t be submitting the ones I have already taken. Will take 3 this fall and hopefully bump my scores up
Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 4.0
Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): school does not offer
AP (place score in parenthesis): World History (4) US history (4) Physics 1 (3) English language (5) Spanish Language (4)
Senior Year Course Load: AP Calc BC, AP English Lit, AP comp gov, AP US gov, AP Spanish lit, AP Physics C, Advanced Journalism, Intermediate Dance, Theology
Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): Ap scholar with distinction, not released yet but will most likely qualify as National merit semifinalist as long as selection index doesn’t change too much

Job/Work Experience:
Lifeguard from end of 10th-11th and then was promoted to being a swim instructor. Coincides with my interest in working with children. About 10 hours a week.
Counselor at a camp in the summer. Will write my essay about this camp’s importance in both my past life and how it has made me who I am and prepared me for the future.
Volunteer/Community service:
Over 250 hours in various places but the top 3 are as follows:
Volunteer every Tuesday and Thursday during school year at a public middle school for immigrants. Help them in learning everything from basic English to genetics to tips for high school. Very rewarding and again coincides with interest in working with children.
2 weeks 7-5 at a head start pre school where I worked with the three year olds many of whom had behavioral issues
2 week long mission trip where we helped in a school. Really changed my perspective on poverty and will also incorporate this into my Penn essay because of their strong commitment to community service.
Summer Activities:
Summer camp and mission trips
Essays (rating 1-10, details): have not written yet, but I am super excited about the ideas I have and I have always been a strong writer so I expect they will be a 10
Recommendations (rating 1-10, details): Have not been written yet, but both teachers love me and I have had them for multiple years so they should be very strong. Will also get a recommendation from the director of my camp to tie the whole thing together. Also considering asking for one from my volunteer supervisor but I think that may be too many.
Counselor Rec: Will be generic, do not know him well
Intended Major: undecided but but with a definite minor in Urban Education (unique to Penn)
OOS
School Type: private, fairly small but well recognized
Ethnicity: White
Gender: Female
Income Bracket: too much for financial aid
Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): I’m a legacy (Pretty sure this is the only thing that gives me a slight chance)
