NOTE ABOUT GPA: Okay so even though the GPA is low it gets worse....its not low because of lots of B's it is low because of D's C's and B's received both Freshman semesters and during first semester sophomore year, HOWEVER after that all A's.

I caution you against posting “chance” threads. They can be sources of comfort, but they give absolutely no valid insight into one’s prospects. Don’t seek the reassurance of others on a message board. Be confident.

I think this thread is getting kinda awekward. There is no way for people to determine your chances. Some might say an upward trend is good, but other will disagree that an upwards trend trumps a good straight A’s or predominating A’s with some B’s. Logically, a straight A’s (or with a few B’s for hard courses) is better. BUT what I’m stressing here is the inaccuracy of College Confidential–especially when a JHU Admissions Director blogs about it and places it in the category of the bad. So please do not take chance threads seriously, at all. The people on here are not admissions directors. The only that has any slight values are the simple comments that your college counselors tell you, like “oh raise your GPA, raise your SAT or you are lacking on EC, go do something you like that shows you have a life outside of school.” Any comments on: “You will get in” or “there is a small chance that you will get in” or “The school is a match/safety/reach” is way out of their league to judge. These terms “match/safety/reach” were essentially coined by people on College Confidential, and actually has a pretty low correlation with the outcome of admissions. Essentially, your college counselor is your best source, they have met admissions director, and some have even acted as admissions officers. I leave you with this quote from JHU Admissions Committee member Daniel:
