I am currently a high school senior looking to apply in the Aerospace or Mechanical fields in the fall . The thing I am worried about is my rank because I go to one of the most competitive high schools in the entire nation (rank 47) and we have IB, which means GPA's are rounded to the nearest thousandth of a point! I also experienced several family emergencies during junior year, which really took a toll on my academics and ability to concentrate, I have mentioned it in my essays. Anyways, I will list my "stats" and please chance me, or let me know what I can do to raise my chances?

GPA Weighted/Unweighted: 4.5 W/3.4 UW

Rank: 244/625 (top 39%)

SAT: M (730), R (720), W (640) (Composite: 1450/1600) (Total: 2090) (Superscore if it applies: 2120)

SAT II: Taking Math II and Physics in Nov. (Hopefully 750+ for both)

AP/Dual Credit (By the end of SENIOR year):
AP World History
AP Physics B
AP Eng. Language
AP Calc AB

Hey there Vish. (Hhhuehueuheuhe) Recognized you right away.

I’d rank you a Match/Low Match for A&M And UCSD

UT-Austin is a high match / low reach depending on how fast you apply.

UCLA / UC Berk is going to be a reach.

You have a few extracurriculars and the 1000+ volunteering hours is great, along with the research paper (i hope you were a co-author?)
But your GPA is definitely on the low side, with the SAT being on the lower side as well.
I do believe you have a chance for these higher up schools, but you would need excellent essays, man and perhaps excellent SATs (SAT II)

Good luck bby

If you’d like to chance me (look at my history), please do so.
Also stop posting so many chance threads dude

Well, your ECs look good. That you are dedicated is helpful. GPA is a problem though, and it looks a bit late to change that. That’ll hurt. You don’t get auto admission either, so at UT, it’ll be tough. They fill 75% of the class with the top 10%, and the rest is holistic. Especially since Cockrell is hard, UT is a high match at least, possibly a low reach. SAT is good, though it’s not perfect. Luckily, they glance over it real quick, so you’re definitely good enough. Sat ii will matter at UC, not do much for UT and A&M. A&M and UCSD are match, maybe low match. UCLA and UCB are reaches.

My chance thread is in my history. The last two are identical, just since no one responded to the first. Thanks

UT-Austin is a high match, A&M and UCSD are matches, and UCLA and Berkeley are reaches. Your SAT score is solid, it’s just the GPA that stands in the way a bit. But, again, colleges will probably consider the fact that your school is more competitive than others. I think you have a chance for all of them though if you write really good essays about some of the extracurriculars you did. Your extracurriculars are great, so I think those will allow you to stand out.

Your GPA is crap. UCB, UCLA, and UCSD are your high reaches (unless if something horrifically tragic happened to your family in your Junior year).

My GPA is also crap. 3.66 unweighted, 4.29 weighted, 4.00 capped UC GPA. My SAT score is only an imperfect 2300. I was rejected by UCB, UCLA, UCSD, and Cal Poly SLO. I was waitlisted by UCD and UCI.
