Looking at: Brown (legacy and maybe ED), Dartmouth, Yale, Duke, Cornell, Northwestern, UChicago, Emory, UF, Stanford, and Berkley. THANKS! :)

bumppppppppppppppppppp

Get the score to a minimum 32 (a 34 would help a lot) and apply ED to Brown for your best chance. And don’t report the AP scores.

Just wondering - for your IB scores did you also get your score out of 7? Because I don’t know exactly how As and Bs would translate…

A 5 point increase on the ACT? Wow. That’ll be tough.

I agree with Post #3. Based on your ACT & two AP scores of 3 (which may or may not be used for admission purposes), your chances are below average absent compelling extenuating circumstances, in my opinion. What was your math score on the ACT as an AP score of 5 on Calculus is very impressive & may indicate that certain schools, such as MIT, may be an appropriate consideration for you.
Which non-Ivies are you considering & why?

Are these really honors?
From what I remember, you have to pay to go to these programs.

This’ll be a tough one. When do you know the results?
No SAT? No subject tests? If you do well enough on the ACT then fine, but you MUST take subject tests to qualify for ivies and what I imagine you see as “Good” schools.

You’re nominated into many things but is that as far as it went?

Your strongest narrative in terms of ECs seems to be math. How did you do at state level competition?

Start thinking about your essays now and try to do most of the work over the summer.
Also consider why you are applying to these schools. You’ll have a hard time finding an acceptance if you’re only applying because of the name.

Hard to tell without higher ACt score in hand. Are you sure you don’t want to try the SAT? 3s on APs show that the ACT might not be your thing. I know a kid who got a 1550/2300 on the SAT but only a 28 on the ACT. He never sent in hos ACT scores. Got into Harvard.

ur avg is nice but ACT isnt strong, cud hurt u with most of them, i think ull get into some, i cant say which tho…, i like your EC’s and yea those arent awards, a lot of kids get them around here you have to pay for them

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/623727-chances-would-appreciated-chances-back-8.html</a></p>

I just basically copied and pasted my resume onto here (for ECs). Anything that says “nominated” won’t be on my college app. Those are just for local jobs that think it’s something impressive. I took the ACT once and took practice tests before from REAL ACTs and consistently get 30s. I was really sick when I took the test. I’m sure I could get into that 32+ range by the end of the year. I do well at the state level for math! As a sophomore, I qualified for the team round in my school. That’s the top 4 scorers on the individual round for your specific school. I got the 4th highest out of 60 kids (including those who have finished Calc 2/Calc 3). I should be placing this year in the competitions. I don’t plan in sending my Statistics score ( took wrong calculator to exam :frowning: ) or my AP govt score. I’m planning on SAT subject tests in Math I, II, and Chemistry.

Oh, idk if this matters, but I’m doing an English Extended essay.

bumpbumpbumpbump :). If you’re going to evaluate my chances, please read my post 2 posts above. thanks! :)

Whoa, I read through the whole thing then read that you were a junior, so you are in pretty good shape, except for the ACT score that is expected to go up. I wouldn’t take both Math I and II Subject Tests, just stick with II as your ability in math seems to be very good. Consider taking another SAT II that you think you can do well on. If you get all of that out of the way, then you should have a good shot at the schools that you are currently looking at. Best of luck!

Chance me please! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/621725-took-risk-blew-any-hope-left.html</a></p>

bumppppp btw, I found out today I’m now 5/329

well i think you have a decent chance, but if you want to get into the ivy league, you need a 30 minimum, dont have to get a 32, and i doubt you will raise your score 5 points, but if you do that, i dont think you will have any problem getting into those schools, also look at MIT because it seems to me that your best subject is math. So basically if you can break a 30 on the ACT and get good letters of recommendation and a killer essay then youre in to all of those schools

so youre a junior? you’re setting yourself up really nicely for a lot of respectable schools. how do you have so many classes per year? you’re definitely taking a really difficult workload and that is always looked highly upon. your rank and gpa are great, obv you need work on your test scores but who doesnt? your ec’s are really strong and diverse as is your leadership. CAS will take care of your volunteering. i’d say you’re a shoe-in at brown for sure (i have a friend w much worse stats who is a legacy), uf, emory, uchicago and northwestern. all the other schools you have a good chance as well, it just depends on who else is applying and how your essays go over in admissions.

good rank! most of your app seems pretty medium-solid though. you have a lot of different ec’s which is pretty good, but it seems like you havent necessarily gone very far with them or just took them up for college. being a junior, your resume looks pretty nice so far. bring up your act, cherry pick what ‘honors/nominations’ you plan on submitting and you’ll be in good shape. i actually disagree with disasterpiece02’s idea-dont take math I & II sat 2s. bad plan!! (especially if you have some problem on math I and dont do as well. schools might consider your math II score a fluke-if it was good.) ivy schools you seem to be interested in are not going to want to see you take an exam (math II) and then the ‘easy’ version of it (math I). this would be akin to a someone from mexico or spain taking the spanish sat 2’s. choose another subject you are good at or at least halfway decent. study hard on your own (best improvement that way) and you’ll at least be in the running. hard to say chances since senioritis hasnt set in. cards aren’t all dealt, but i think you’ll do well. GL!

Thanks so much! I really am feeling better about my chances at some of these schools now. :). Looks like I’ll be taking Math II and Chem lol.

bumpppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp
