Chance for Johns Hopkins, Notre Dame, Vanderbilt

<p>I'm interested in applying to Johns Hopkins, Norte Dame, and Vanderbilt as my reach/ match schools. Ideally, I would like to get into the Biomed. program at Johns Hopkins but I understand that is far more difficult.</p>

<p>Here's my abbreviated resume with the unimportant information gone:</p>

<p>Class Rank: 11 of 384 (at a fairly competitive school)
Unweighted GPA: 3.82
Weighted GPA: 4.834</p>

<p>SAT: 1450 / 2070
Math: 750
CR: 700
Writing: 620
(I took it again today, and expect a 2150-2200 or so)</p>

<p>National Merit Semifinalist</p>

<p>SAT Subject Test:
Chemistry: 800
Biology M: 730</p>

<p>APs:
Statistics: 5
Chemistry: 5
Biology: 5
Calculus AB: 5
US History: 5
Art History: 5</p>

<p>Currently taking four classes including AP Calc BC, AP Physics C: Mech, and a dual enrollment course (I get that four will hurt my chances but how much?)</p>

<p>Significant ECs:
-Eagle Scout
-Speech and Debate (12 hours a week or so): Finalist in two events at state championships, PFD Champion at local tournament
-National Honor Society: President (2013-2014)
-Youth in Government: Committee Chair, Legislator (3 years total)
-Plan to have a job before two of these are submitted (JH, Vandy)</p>

<p>Major Volunteer Work:
Summer Intern at my Church (32 hours a week)
Several Mission Trips
Active Volunteer at Church (6-10 hours a month)
Meals on Wheels
Dentistry from the Heart</p>

Notre Dame: High Match.
Vanderbilt: High Match.</p>

<p>Work on that writing score and you should be closer to match for all of those schools.</p>

Notre Dame: Low Reach~
Vanderbilt: Low Reach</p>

<p>These schools are low reaches for most applicants and you definitely have the right, if not better records to get in! Good Luck</p>

<p>All are reaches because nothing really stands out in your application. But that doesn’t mean you don’t have a chance</p>

<p>If you’re serious about any of these schools I think it would significantly improve your chances by applying early!</p>
