Schools I'm applying to-
MIT
Cornell
Carnegie Mellon
Northwestern
Georgia Tech
UMich
UIUC
Purdue
UT Austin

Not applying to any schools in Cali b/c I probably won’t attend-don’t want to waste time on apps

Should I also ED into Cornell? Would that put me at a better chance of getting in?

Assuming I get into all the above, what would you recommend based on education, social life, name/status, jobs, weather, location....?

Thank you so much!

I’m too lazy right now to give you a good, thorough explanation, but I think you have a good chance at any of these schools IF you make it clear what your intended major/primary area of interest is and how you’ve been pursuing it. Too many people are just like, “yo, what up, I have a 4.0, a 36, a 2400, a buttload of APs - all 5s, of course - professional research and publishing in journals… and what do I want to study? I dunno - maybe broadcasting or something.” Colleges are much more impressed by people with directions. Why is engineering important to you?

I agree. YOu’ve got a good shot- just write a good essay and explain why you’re special, and why it’s important to you to attend.

Good chance.

@emberjed, I disagree. It takes a level of maturity to say that you’re undecided about your major. Many college applications roll in conveying an interest for Medicine/Engineering that you have to wonder if every single one truly wants to do it in the end. I’m not saying op should put down undecided, as the op seems to have a direct interest and is really moving to that direction. I’m simply saying that I doubt a college will look as heavily for a concentration for admission. Of course you must show a theme or passion but that doesn’t mean you a restricted to a direction that involves that theme.

That being said, you (OP) have a very strong application.you have been recognized at the state and national levels for many things, which is likely to surprise. Additionally, you have a consistent passion that will definitely attract these colleges (it’s not like you just participate in a million things that you happen to do well in). You have an excellent application, and I see many fat envelopes (acceptances) coming your way at decision time. Of course I have absolutely no idea where you will get accepted or what the top colleges look for, but you certainly look very competitive for them.
