Chance for my plethora of schools?

I am a currently a high school junior. I'm an Asian female who comes from a family with ~150K income. My parents want me to go to a prestigious school but I'm scared I'll let them down.

GPA: 3.8 (W). School doesn't do unweighted. This will go up by the end of my junior year
8th grade: honors bio, honors algebra I, french I
9th grade: honors english, honors french, honors history, honors earth science, honors geometry
10th grade: honors french, honors english, honors algbra II and trig, honors history, honors chem
11th grade: AP English Language, honors college precalc (through UAlbany), AP Chem, APUSH, university french (through UAlbany), AP Stat
12th grade (planned): AP English Lit, AP Calc BC, AP Physics C, AP Euro, AP Art History, AP French

SAT: It's really bad, but I walked into the test room with no practice or prep and winged it. 580 CR, 720 M, 640 W (7 essay); 1940 altogether; taking them again in March
SAT II: Math I - 720; plan on taking USH, Chem, and Math II, maybe french

National Honor Society (at my school indicates that I am top 15%. I don't know if I'm top 10% though)
History Honor Society
Math Honor Society
French Honor Society
Music Honor Society
Candidate for national merit scholarship

ECs: very weak because I am lazy
Select Choir, Spring Musicals, All-County Choir, All-State Choir, participation in various other choruses, volunteered at library and local rehabilitation center summer before sophomore year, I participate in orchestra and chorus

I've gotten a B+ in honors bio and honors english freshman year and a B honors english sophomore year. The rest are As and A-s.

What are my chances of getting into NYU, Cornell, UPenn, Lehigh, Villanova, Boston College, Boston University, UMich, University of Maryland, Binghamton and Carnegie Mellon? I feel like the really prestigious schools on this list that my parents like are way out of reach and the less well-known or more mediocre schools would disappoint my parents

Don’t freak out. Your grades aren’t as bad as you think and while your SAT score could be better, 1940 is by no means a bad score.

NYU: Low Reach
Cornell: Reach
UPenn: High Reach
Lehigh: High Match
Villanova: Match
Boston College: Reach
Boston University: High Match
UMich: Reach
University of Maryland: Match
Binghamton: High Match
Carnegie Mellon: Reach (SAT scores are very important there)

Just an FYI, look into Wake Forest University. It’s the #27 national university according to US News and World Report, and SAT scores are optional there. Given your higher GPA and lower SAT scores, that sounds like a good option to me. http://premium.usnews.com/best-colleges/wake-forest-university-2978

My school’s valedictorian this year told my that my SAT score was incredible for someone who just walked into the testing room and took it and if I studied even a little bit that I would crush the test.
Also I am connected with every single Jesuit school and I get a full tuition waiver to all of them if I get accepted, so do you think my connection would have an effect for BC?
My brother also graduated from Binghamton, so would the sibling legacy also have an effect?

Also if it helps these are the average GPAs of people from my school who got accepted into these schools.

NYU: 3.85
Cornel: 3.98
UPenn: 4.07
Lehigh: 3.88
Villanova: 3.8
BC: 3.9
BU: 3.77
UMich: 3.87
UMD: 3.7
Bing: 3.69
CMU: 4.02

just so you guys know where I stand

My SAT score when I took it sophomore year without any preparation was a 1960 (720 Writing, 700 Math, 540 Critical Reading). I worked on improving my scores for about a year and ended up with a 2300 (800/800/700). So yes, a 1940 without any preparation is an excellent score and with preparation, I have little doubt that you would score significantly better. Unfortunately though, you didn’t prepare, but the 1940 won’t kill you at all of these colleges that you’re looking at.

As for your chances at Binghampton… I assumed out of state. If you’re in state, combine that with your legacy, and I’d call it a match. As for the jesuit school part, I’m not sure what effect that will play in the admissions at BC, but a 1940 is low for admissions at BC.

EDIT Those GPA’s sound about right to me. Just know that there are so many factors in the decision making that in depth analysis of the average GPA’s from your school would be for naught.

I’m taking them again in March and prepping for CR and the essay

Well good luck and hopefully you’ll fare better this time…

Thank you so much!
