please chance me! i will chance back if you post a link to your thread!!

Gpa? Instate or OOS?

You appear to be a very competitive applicant. Your standardized test scores are very good, but if you get into the 1900’s for the SAT, I think you will most definitely get in. The course rigor will help you out as well.

I wish you the best! :D… Chance me! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/north-carolina-state-university/1437290-chances.html

NJMom2017: as stated in my original post, my unweighted gpa is about 3.63 and I’m from out of state

unchopeful33: do you really think that i get ‘definitely’ get in if i do better on the sat? how competitive is the college?

Well obviously there is no guarantee, I guess I was just extremely optimistic when I said that, but I think raising your test scores would do no harm. Another thing, you keep mentioning you are out of state… For NC State, that does not matter. They can only bring in 18 percent of out of state students, however; they don’t come close to this in their application pool. Being out of state makes no difference. I have called the admissions office about this in the past.

UNC on the other hand, has half of their applicants from out of state- reason why it is so competitive OOS. Half the pool is competing for 18% of the seats.

A 1900 will not “guarantee” entrance to NCSU. I had around a ~2000 on my SAT(1410 with just CR+M) and three other 750+ SATIIs and I was still deferred, and I’m an in-state applicant.

A score of 2000 would put someone in the top 25%(EASILY). Ac7dd, I don’t know the rest of your profile but it’s very strange that you didn’t get in. I suppose it also depends what school you applied to. Was it Engineering?

Yep, CS to be more precise. Most people at my school, especially the AP Physics teacher that happens to be an NCSU alumna, were very surprised at the decision. Oddly enough, I was also deferred at MIT, but accepted to GaTech, which are far more competitive engineering school.
