Chance for rising senior?

I am a rising senior (male, asian/white) attending school in North Carolina. I have a big passion and long term goal of being able to reach out, after my studies, to the disadvantaged kids of lower class northern cities. It has always been a dream of mine to touch and affect those kids and aid them to bettering their educations and lives. Anyways, here are my stats... I understand they are are not the strongest, and being OOS doesn't help at all ( right? ).

UW: 3.6 W: 4.4
Class Rank: 35/299 (will move up)

SAT: 1st time: 550M/550CR/570W (now this part is where the base falls from under the things atop... I took the June SAT and an hoping for 1200+ M/CR. that being said, I will most likely take it AGAIN.)

APs (6): Physics B & US History (Junior) - Government, Psychology, Calculus AB and Calculus BC (Senior).

ECs:
-Junior Marshal
-Varsity Wrestling 9th & 10th, regional champions 10th

-HOSA Club 11th & 12th
-Student Government Officer 11th & 12th
-World Cultures Club Officer 10th, 11th & 12th
-Caswell Student Leadership Retreat Council Leader (75+ hours of preparation for a 3 day conference, top students are selected to attend, was asked to lead a group of about 15 students and aided them in gaining personal and leadership growth)
-Renovated a local house for a family to move into, regularly assisting them with lawncare and regular home improvements
-Captain of JROTC Academic Bowl 2012
-National Honors Society 12th grade

Volunteer Work:
-Miracle League (disabled children baseball)
-Veterans Day Ceremony Aid, honoring of veterans 3 years in a row
-Boys and Girls Club (this one is the most important because it ties into my first paragraph, I am helping my friend, the valedictorian of my class, found a group for troubled teens)
-many others, don't want to make you all read too much

I am not sure what else to add at this point. Can anyone give me some pointers on how to exemplify my passion for assisting those children who are at risk? It has been a dream of mine for years now of eventually being able to help and touch an infinite amount of children who are at risk. Some of my hobbies include reading (shutter island, the jungle), editing short movies (using programs such as iMovie), and RUNNING! All three of these things make me feel empowered and FREE!
And I am also thinking of the option of Early Decision... Would that be out of reach?
Any help would be great thanks :)

William and Mary!!!! HOPEFULLY

Might I add, my reason(s) for wanting to attend W&M is because of my love for historic Williamsburg. The area is just so fascinating, and the school itself embodies my idea of the best school one can go to! People, places, experiences!

Bump 10char

May want to try the ACT if your SAT scores do not rise significantly. Schedule an interview if there are still slots available. Consider applying early decision if you are 100% sure W&M is for you (binding agreement). Good luck!

Taking the ACT could be good advice, especially if you are strong in the science and other material not covered by the SAT.

If next year’s application is like this year’s, there will be an optional one page submission–anything you want that fits on one page, an essay, a movie, a piece of art, whatever you want. From our daughter’s experience applying this year, W&M is looking for students that have passion and a unique personality. They don’t want cookie cutter students. Use the optional submission to really tell the story of why you want to help disadvantaged children. Make them feel your passion. If you are on the bubble, this could push you over the edge.

Our daughter had a similar grades as you this year, but with a solid ACT (never took SAT), including being out of state. She applied early decision because we thought that would have her competing against a smaller out of state pool. Her optional one-pager told the story of Prince William and Duchess Kate getting married on her 16th birthday and how much that meant to her as an anglophile. It was hilarious. She was accepted and is now out shopping for the dorm room.

Best of luck.

Thank you!
