I applied to some other schools including Berkeley, Duke, Hopkins, a few Ivies, but basically its a crapshoot for anyone. Guidance counselor said NEU is sort of a safety. Would I be considered not only for acceptance but some sort of scholarship? and i dont mean from one of those random foundations that gives you like $500. i mean like half-tuition/full-ride?
Thanks

Yes, I would expect you will get a scholarship. Could be anywhere from half tuition to full tuition. You will get in the Honors program also.

Assuming that you sent in the paperwork and everything, you should ultimately become a NMF (unfortunately, I’ve heard of individuals who have decided that it’s too much trouble to fill out the forms, and have missed out), which gives you very good odds of receiving a full tuition scholarship. Technically, the scholarship is not guaranteed, but I haven’t heard of any NMF who hasn’t been offered it.

Your chances of getting room and board paid are considerably lower, especially without a ‘hook’ as you put it. Maybe look into some smaller scholarships to try and help cover it?

You’ll definitely get something. Can’t say how much because it depends what the rest of the applicant pool looks like. If you’re a National Merit Finalist or National Achievement Finalist you’re eligible for a full ride.
