scholarship chance

I was wondering if you guys think I have a chance at a merit scholarship. I know NEU has gotten a lot more competitive in the last few years, so I don't really know where I stand.

I have:

3.9-- GPA (uw)
2160 --SAT (1390 m+cr)
710/690/670-- SAT 2 (history/lit/bio)
Okay ECs, should have a great essay, and pretty good recs

What are my chances for a scholarship? If any, what size, or which specific scholarship? and what can I do to help my chances at one?

thanks

My guess is that you'd get a Dean's Scholarship for 14k. I had a lower UW GPA (3.6) but a 4.5 W, and slighty higher SATs (2260 and 800s) and I got a 14k.

Merit scholarships at NEU have been all over the board. One factor seems to be your geographic location and actually being from MA is a disadvantage to you...they love to get students from outside of New England.
The other factor is your intended major. Some are more competitive than others.
No one can post a guess on this board. If you look at other threads you will see a huge variance in merit scholarships.

Ouch, yeah I suspected being right next door would hurt. I guess I'll hope for the best and be pleasantly suprised if I get a nice one.

Congrats on your stats and your money, neuchimie, and thanks for the reply.

Merit scholarships seemed very unpredictable for this yr's entering freshman class. There are some scholarships ONLY available to Boston students, so keep that in mind.
My daughter is going and is from NJ. She got decent scholarship/grant and finaid package.
Her cousin from Mass with similar stats got offered more than she did.
Seemed like no rhyme or reason to it

Yeah, I do agree that they seem sort of random. I also don't know how they rank the "top ten percent" to choose honors. I applied EA and got honors, but how could they have choosen the top 10% if they didn't even have all of the Regular Decision applicants?

And thank you. :)
