I'm a Emory sophmore myself, if you were my year, I'd say you would be in for sure. Having said that, however, emory is becoming increasingly more competitive and i know kids from my highschool that i thought were in for sure get rejected. Your best bet for Emory is express interest by either visiting or writing a letter. Hope i could help!

Class Rank: top 10%
Class Size: 19/ 469

isn't that 4%? or did i misinterpret what you were saying?

With your minority status, you should have added a true Ivy League to your list. I do not see you being rejected by any of the schools on your list.

I did not see Cornell, you should get in there.

"isn't that 4%? or did i misinterpret what you were saying?"

top 10 percent means that your rank is

Number 1 </= X < 10%

with X being your percent (4%)

so he is correct

Where does it say minority status? I only see "biracial"...

First gen will help though.

Thanks everyone, this is really encouraging and much better feedback than I'd expected. I think my worry is that my math score is on the low range for these schools and my E.C.s are kind of a whole lot of nothing.

llama: Yeah, I visited and tried to convey interest in my essays, so I hoped that worked out. :)

Also, I am in the top 4% but..... I'm a newbie haha! The choices listed were "top 5 students" then "top 10%" so I just listed the 10% and forgot to clarify that part below.

I'm biracial, but I'm not sure if I get the so-called "minority- bump", because it's White/Asian and some schools like Cornell seem to look at "under-represented minorites", as opposed to just plain minorities-- defined on their site as black, hispanic, and Native American. I.e. all minorities EXCEPT Asian haha, go figure.

Any other opinions? Thanks.

Good chances, if you tried Tulane I think you would get a large scholarship, but you have really good chances regardless. Good luck.

I say you have a good shot! You're in the same boat as me, seems like, but...it's a better boat you're in! Tons of APs and your SAT score help out a lot, being biracial helps. You're in Davidson for sure, their acceptance rate is higher than other schools of their caliber. You're probably in Cornell too; I have a friend whose parents went there and her dad was actually on the admissions committee. He told me I could get in (and if I could, you could, your stats are better than mine) because of my achievements and because they look more favorably upon southern applicants than those from the north/mid-atlantic/west coast. Most of Cornell's students come from those regions, so they DO like the south and midwest; geographic diversity, in other words.

You are right, a White/Asian biracial will not get URM status. I don't really see a lot of depth in the ECs, they just look like a bunch of clubs with a leadership position in only one of them. However, your courseload looks pretty difficult from what I can tell (10 APs) and your GPA is high for someone with such a load, so your chances at all of those colleges are pretty good. However, I can't guarantee that you are certainly in for any of them.

Emory- Match
Vanderbilt- Match
Davidson- Match
Cornell- Low reach
