So I pretty much screwed over my freshmen and sophomore year, so I'm wondering what is realistically possible for me to get into. I really want to get into UCI, not even going to aim for the upper UC's. My unweighted GPA is 3.3, weighted 3.4. I took AP bio, AP us hist, AP Lang, AP Chinese, AP calc ab, AP Lit. SAT is 2000, EC include 100 hrs volunteer, 8 yrs of violin, 4 yrs of piano, 4 yrs of martial arts. I have had a job for 3 yrs, and I'm first gen to go to college. Do I have any chance to get into UC's???

Everything is pretty good for you except for your GPA. UC’s will typically take note of your high course rigor and first generation status. How far that will get you I’m not sure because the UC’s weigh numbers the most. I wouldn’t push too hard for Berkeley, LA, or SD, but Irvine, SB and Davis could all be possibilities.

I kind of had a similar thing where I had a good number of B’s my freshman/sophomore year. They don’t concentrate on your freshman year, they put the largest amount of focus on Sophomore/Junior Year. Just pull straight A’s Junior year and your UC GPA (A-G classes with up to 8 weighted semester classes) can still be saved.
