Chance?!? I'll chance back :)

<p>Hi. So here's a list of some schools I'm wondering what my chances would be for: </p>

<p>Copy and Paste List
Boston College:
Emory:
Tulane:
Wake Forest:
Brown:
Carnegie Mellon
Vassar:
Washington University in St. Louis:
Columbia:
Tufts:
Vanderbilit:</p>

<p>If you have any other colleges that are similar or you think I could be a good fit for please comment, this whole college process is super overwhelming and any help is greatly appreciated for. And I don't know if this is factored in but I want to double major in Economics and International Relations :)</p>

<p>Here's my stats:</p>

<p>Classes
-8th grade: Algebra 1 HN (A), Spanish 1 (A)
-Freshman year: World History 1 HN (A), Biology HN (B+), English 9 HN (A), Geometry HN (A-), Art (A), Gym (A), Spanish 2 (A)
-Sophomore year: AP World History (A), Chemistry HN (A-), English 10 HN (A), Algebra 2 HN (A-), Fashion Marketing (A), Gym (A), Spanish 3 (A-)
-Junior year (this year): AP US History (A), Physics HN (A), AP Lang (A), Precalc/Trig HN (A), SGA (A), AP Economics (A-), Spanish 4 (A)
My weighted GPA is 4.3 and unweighted is 3.92. We don't do class ranks but I think I would probably be in at least the top 10% of my class.</p>

<p>SAT: 1980 (CR:700 M:660 W:620) I didn't really study so I know I should be able to raise my score by about 150-200 points.
ACT: I haven't taken the ACT yet (I'm taking it in 2 weeks) but on most of my practice tests I've been getting a 32-33</p>

<p>Extracurriculars:
-Girl Scouts (Bronze and Silver Awards and I'm working on my Gold) since I was 5
-Competitive Dance (think 15-20 hours a week, 6 days a week) since I was 4
-I played field hockey in 9th and 10th grade but had to stop because of an ACL injury
-Math League 10th grade
-DECA 10th grade
-I joined Key Club, History Honor Society, National Honor Society, Student Government, and Model UN (I'm vice president) this year.</p>

<p>Other:
-I won first place at the school, regional, and state level for National History Day
-I was a Girl Scout Congressional Aide last summer (a mini internship at a congressman's office)
-This summer I am going on a Girl Scout service trip to Costa Rica</p>

<p>Thank you and I'll of course chance anyone back who chances me!!
:)</p>

<p>I honestly feel if you got your sat up you could aim a little higher. In my humble opinion
Emory match
Wash u low reach
Bc high match
Vassar match
Wake forest high match low reach
Cmu low reach
<a href=“Chance Me? I will definately 100% chance you back - #10 by UCh0peful - Chance Me / Match Me! - College Confidential Forums”>Chance Me? I will definately 100% chance you back - #10 by UCh0peful - Chance Me / Match Me! - College Confidential Forums;

<p>@ShowMeState700 do you think if I got my sat up an ivy league school could be possible?</p>

<p>Ivys are unpredictable but I think you have a shot. Also could u chance me back</p>

<p>Assuming you get your SAT up I’d say…</p>

<p>Boston College: yes
Emory: almost definitely
Tulane: yes
Wake Forest: I don’t know but they don’t require SAT/ACT scores so if you don’t do well, you can still get in
Brown: sorry, but probably not but that’s the same with 90% of the people that apply so
Carnegie Mellon: maybe, but it’s my understanding that CMU is mainly for people majoring in computer sciences and engineering, not economics or int. relations
Vassar: maybe?
Washington University in St. Louis: lowish reach
Columbia: probably not but I’d at least try
Tufts: maybe
Vanderbilit: maybe</p>

<p>I might be lowballing it because you have really good ECs
Good luck!</p>

<p>Boston College: match
Emory: low reach
Tulane: low reach
Wake Forest: match
Brown: low reach
Carnegie Mellon: low reach
Vassar: match
Washington University in St. Louis: low reach
Columbia: high reach
Tufts: dunno
Vanderbilit: dunno</p>

<p>I’m not too familiar with most of these schools, but from a quick look I’d say that you have a fair chance of getting into at least a few of these places. I’d definitely take another look at the SAT (unless you don’t plan on sending it or if it’s not required)… and just keep up your ECs. I think your ECs may be the backbone of your profile, so I would emphasize those (that is, if it’s important to you haha) on your app.</p>

<p>Part of this depends if you apply ED/RD (most of those schools don’t have an EA) but assuming you apply RD (or EA wherever possible) to all of these places…</p>

<p>Boston College: match
Emory: high reach
Tulane: safety
Wake Forest: match
Brown: high reach
Carnegie Mellon: low reach
Vassar: never heard of it, so idk
Washington University in St. Louis: high reach
Columbia: high reach
Tufts: medium reach
Vanderbilit: medium reach</p>

<p>I am basing this off of your current SAT score. And to answer the question you asked earlier, if you get your SAT score up to the 2200 range you may have a shot at Ivies, but it would be very unlikely. Your dance seems like an impressive EC, but other than that there isn’t much else impressive on your app.</p>

<p>The terms match, reach, etc. are confusing, so I will give percentage chances.</p>

<p>Boston College: 70%
Emory: 50%
Tulane: 75%
Wake Forest: 55%
Brown: 15%
Carnegie Mellon 45%
Vassar: 50%
Washington University in St. Louis: 30%
Columbia: 10%
Tufts: 25%
Vanderbilit: 20%</p>

<p>If you got your SAT’s up (to a 2200+), you could definitely aim for Ivies and hope for something  But please, don’t forget about SAT subject tests. You definitely need to do good on at least two if you want to be a really competitive applicant. If you’re majoring in Economics and International relations, why not take Math Level 2 and Spanish? If you did good on those, it would boost your chances by a significant amount. With that, Columbia and Brown could be low reaches for you, (which is a pretty good for Ivies), the rest being matches. Soooo yeahh… go for it :)</p>

<p>I’d REALLY appreciate if you chanced back for me. Only for one school
<a href=“http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1609560-chance-me-for-cornell-will-chance-back-please.html”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1609560-chance-me-for-cornell-will-chance-back-please.html&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

Brown: high reach
Carnegie Mellon: high match
Washington University in St. Louis: low reach
Columbia: high reach
Tufts: low reach
Vanderbilit: reach</p>

<p>Work on them test scores!</p>

<p>Ivies are all high reaches considering your test scores, so is the case with CMU CS department.</p>

<p>WUSTL is easier, but it’s still a reach. R U applying FA there?</p>

<p>Emory is a low reach.BC is also a low reach.</p>

<p>Boost your test scores.</p>

<p>If you get your SAT scores up, you’re almost guaranteed @ all of you schools except Columbia. As high as all of your scores are, I know a student who had a 4.0 uw and 4.25 w, 2290 sat score and great Ecs and didn’t get in. Does it make sense? No, of course not. But that is how iviss work</p>

<p>Thanks so much! Leave a link and I’ll chance back :)</p>

<p>Also I don’t know if this will help but I probable have at least 150 hours from dancing and volunteering backstage at a nonprofit ballet company. I know I’m lacking a little in the community service department.</p>

<p>Honestly I don’t know much about many of the schools you listed. I will say that your grades are good and you have really good ECs. Really make sure to get those test scores up too, around a 2200 SAT and 34+ ACT, if you can. I’ll do the ones I know about :stuck_out_tongue:
Wake Forest: Match
Brown: Reach
Carnegie Mellon: Low Reach/ High Match
Columbia: Reach
Vanderbilt: Low Reach</p>

<p>Brown mid reach
Cornell low reach
Wake forest high match
Emory high match
Tufts low reach
Wustl high match low reach
Vandy high match low reach
Boston college match</p>

<p>Good luck</p>

<p>I’d say you’d be a good match for all of them except the ivies. I believe those are always reach schools. Better chances at Brown than Columbia though.</p>
