Chance international student for Aero Engineering, UMich,Purdue,UC's etc...

Hi guys,

I'd like to have some opinions about my profile. I apply to all these schools in Aerospace engineering. And will pay FULL tuition. I apply with French nationality (though i also have Dutch Nationality)

Important Fact : I'm in a gap year, which explains some things i was able to do in EC's.

TOEFL : 112/120

SAT : 2020,

640 CR,

740 MATH,

640 W

SAT II : Math 2 : 720 Physics : 720

GPA : I'm french (half dutch also), So i don't have GPA as you guys call it, our grading system is very different. So for the people who know it, i did a BAC S with Option internationale (heavily weighted English and History-Geo American) with 14,25 average ( i can give more detail if needed). Nearly all My courses are considered Honors compared to american high school. And my sciences courses are high Honors. What i did in regular class is what american system does in AP courses.

LANGUAGES : I fluently speak and write FRENCH, ENGLISH, DUTCH and decent SPANISH.

EC's, Sports, and Special achievements :

-Participated in aeronautics initiation when i was 15. Got very high score on final theory exam.

-I Worked 3 months as a volunteer in a Children's hospital in South America (Peru) (full time during gap year)

One Month Internship at NASA ames research center San francisco, as invited international student. (gap year)

-Followed 8 weeks Private Pilot Licence training program to own a PPL (flight licence).

Member of competitive Tennis club team

I was often first of my class in Physics and Chemistry in High school

I do Weight training, several times a week.

-I participated in the national Physics and chemistry competition in france, only the best students in the discipline of each high school are allowed to participate (i needed to prepare extra hours at school every week with other participating students of the school).

These are the schools i applied to :

-University of Michigan, Ann Arbor

-Purdue University, west lafayette

-Georgia Tech

University of Illinoisn Urbana Champaign

University of Southern California

-UC, Los angeles,
-UC, San diego
-UC, Irvine
-UC, Davis

Thanks guys,

and good luck :)

GTech - reach due to appalling stats for internationals.
Umich- Low Reach
Purdue-Low match
UIUC- match
USC-(don’t know so won’t comment)
UC’S- good chance due to your subs, I don’t know if you can label them honors just because of content though, for eg I am intl from India and what we study in high school is way beyond anything in AP’s but we still label them NH. Personally I have taken AP exams and found they did not even contain half of what was taught at our school.

@Bored1997 Ok thanks ! About the honors thing, it’s in an official conversion/equivalence document with american grades, that my counselor gave me , where it says that my courses were honors level. :)

Any other thoughts are very welcome :)

bump

I forgot to say my essays are pretty good (reviewed by a professional). And i have two good recommendations, one from a History Teacher and the Other from Physics-chem teacher (who has a PhD in chemistry).

I don’t know your chances, but where did you do that 8-week private pilot training? Was it in America? I’m going into AeroE too and I love flying.

@albert69 SunState aviation, Near Orlando in Florida
